Irishdub what scriptural proof do you have for this opinion
It's just the fact when they partook they hadn't been anointed with holy spirit yet. *That* didn't happen until Pentecost.

i've been thinking about this the past few days and curious what the honest consensus is here just for fun.. show of hands,.
is the governing body.... a: completely sincere.
they really do believe what they teach.. b: somewhat sincere.
SBFatIn historical perspective I reckon the most sincere believer ever on the Governing Body was probably Jack Barr. And the most likely candidates for people who realised it was all nonsense - Nathan Knorr and Lyman Swingle.
Have you seen the Bethel widows video? Jack Barrs wife I strongly suspect is at least a bit awake!
I agree all the leaders - Russel, Rutherford, Knorr and Franz *knew* it was made up BS.

Depends
Jackson - sincere. Wasn't a long term bethelite so hasn't played/seen all the bitchy arse kissing politics. Was a missionary in the islands and bought a lot of Polynesian's in - they are madly religious there and although he thinks jah has blessed him anyone who preached there through the 80s would have had the same results.
Herd - Is a true believing /born and raised Christian, for sure, but I get the feeling he is tired of it all, he's seen the generation teaching fail and I think he's now not 1oo% but has no choice of course.
Morris - egotistical narcissist who just loves the power so doesn't stop to worry if it's true.
Lett - I think he's a bit nutty, kindly believer whose none to bright Tbh
Splane - haven't got a glue about him. Can't read him at all. I think he enjoys the social side and getting into everyone's business. Seems intelligent so I don't understand his tomfoolery with the generations. No education of course.
Losche - the cowardly one who knows damn well there are problems but is too weak and lacks the moral fibre to face it.
Sanderson - maybe I'm reading him wrong But he seems the ambitious type. I get the feeling he looks forward to the day some of the old buggers die so he can shake things up a bit. Definately NPG.
“we don’t celebrate holidays because god doesn’t approve of any celebration that is rooted in pagan customs and manmade traditions.” (see here for a similar jw response.).
if you were once an ex-jw like me, you have probably said something like this out in field service to someone who asked the question: why don’t you people celebrate holidays?
as the witnesses' official website states in an faq about not celebrating easter:.
Tepidpoultry Now that is a lesson we can all learn from!
my wife and daughter organized some sort of tea party for the older sisters in the congregation.
here are the details:: .
2 happily married to believers who do the minimum to stay off the radar of congregation police, .
A thought....any man bad or good can have a woman...look at Charles Manson...he had a few... but a good woman can live a lifetime and not have anyone...
Pssst ....Your religion is showing!!
here in the uk--private--or personal- car registration plates are popular.. heres one i photo'd tonight.. .
I'm unable to grasp it.
Oh Lor!! :-)) :-)) :-))
i dont know if this is becoming a national thing or even globally.
but im hearing more and more people i knew from my jw days have taken their kids out of school to home school them instead.
in my sisters case she's taken her 8yo and 6yo children out already and her 3yo wont ever start a school.
Actually home schooling is the one way the internet has done jehovahs witness kids a dis-service. In the era before online school programmes I doubt many jw parents would have passed muster as educators.

Ironically, many homeschooled kids in my area turn 18, get a low-paying fast-food-type job, quickly find a 'worldly' boyfriend or girlfriend, and then fade or are DF'ed, never to set foot in a Kingdom Hell ever again.
So not only do they lack any kind of an education and socialization skills they have been indoctrinated with prejudiced views and are frankly lucky if they haven't been sexually, emotionally or physically abused but will loose their families too through shunning.
lately my mom's gotten into all kinds of weird "power of positive thinking" kind of stuff.
she watches "the secret" and bob proctor videos all the time, and now she's trying to get me into it.
to me her being into this sort of thing seems kind of hypocritical.
Same bullshit different name.
Yeah, like a third world starving kid should just be thinking positive thoughts and bingo! He's the CEO of his own company.
Sickening
jerome over on discuss the truth has picked up on something interesting.. in the july watchtower on page 28 of the article entitled “winning the battle for your mind” the following statement is made “keep in mind that satan does not want you to think clearly or reason things out well.
because propaganda is likely to be most effective, says one source, if people… are discouraged from thinking critically.”.
the quote comes from a book entitled: “media and society in the twentieth century: a historical introduction by lyn gorman, david mclean" the watchtower however, chose to leave out a portion of the quote.. the full quote is "therefore, it is likely to be most effective if people do not have access to multiple sources of information and if they are discouraged from thinking critically.. the following sentence which the watchtower also decided was best not to include states,.
Yeah I saw this on xjwreddit and nearly re posted on here. Actually the whole article is one big coffee choking exercise as it centers on propaganda and ways to spot it!!
In fact the whole article is such a supreme exercise in cynicism whoever wrote it *has* to realize the Watchtower is a sham and a cult.
I personally hold those in the writing dept., who are allowed full access to "outside" scientific and research based articles, to account for the huge con they are pulling on the R&F.
