I'm too drunk to Elder
(On second thoughts. Scrub that one!)
replace one word in a song title with the word 'elder/s'.. eg.
the elders are back in town' (boys).
smoke on the elder (water).
I'm too drunk to Elder
(On second thoughts. Scrub that one!)
can anyone give me a valid reason for it?
growing old is a drag.
the witnesses idea of ever lasting life, that you will come back to your most youthful state is such a bs answer..
I wouldn't want to live in their idea of paradise, with ruddy Watchtower studies...can you imagine that??? We never used to perceive it like that...Watchtower has got more and more controlling with their pictures of paradise outdoor kingdom hall meetings, and talking about elders being the " princes" of the realm. How puke worthy. No princesses mind you, we were warned. Cult. Cult. Cult.
I thought female subjection was a consequence of sin. That's all out the window matey in the New world!! So there Mr. Garlic bread!!
after looking through doug mason's "ransom" thread, i noticed a little discrepancy between dub doctrine and the bible; i.e.
lazarus.. if the wages of sin is death, lazarus paid the wages in full by dying, and when resurrected by jesus, he should then have been a "perfect" man.
after all, he paid his wages for his imperfection -- he died.
I'm not 100% sure it's got anything to do with Jesus. Has it?
As far as I know the wages of sin being death, and having paid for your sin, you should in theory be perfect is an old testament idea, before they'd even come up with the idea of a redeemer who would be killed to pay for the sins of all.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think our fully formed idea of jesus is really there initially. Debate anyone? Maybe @David_Jay would be able to tell us more?
i've been lurking here for a couple of weeks now.
i'm starting to "awaken" and it is all that has been occupying my mind.
i've always, always had doubts, some of which i expressed to family members who always had the same replies:.
Here's another fantastic one called " punishing doubt". I'd also highly recommend watching Leah Rimini's series on Scientology. I know it seems far fetched at first, but you might find they have a lot of similarities to Jehovahs Witnesses.
You mention educated people in Watchtower. Hopefully the above video helped you understand that very intelligent people can become prey to undue influence or high control groups. Anyway this one may help you feel better about questioning your Faith, or in fact anything.

Welcome to the forum!
I know it is all so utterly overwhelming. But take your time, if you honestly have questions, how can any loving father condemn you for wanting to find answers? Remember, JW leaders are only other people, don't conflate God with a man made organization. But before you need to get into doctrine ( and for that I recommend jwfacts.com, the lovely, truly humble Paul Grundy only uses Wtbts publications, so you don't have to feel anxious.
Away from doctrine, please please have a look at this amazing video by Theramin Trees, in fact all his videos are fantastic, but first please look at this one. He is qualified in psychology and philosophy ( which I highly recommend studying if you can, however basic)
recently, someone who knows deborah drexler, the current copyright holder of cofc, asked her if she will consider having it published again.
her response was:.
" i will have to ask jesus"!!!!!.
Sorry DeeGee, it is indeed Deborah Dykstra. This is the person to whom I referred. My mistake with the spelling.
She has not left updates on the commentary press site for some time, neither does She respond to queries - often from those of us who have donated money toward helping her to publish Crisis of Con.

Steve 2It is also frustrating that posts almost always rely on second- or third hand accounts ("...someone who knows Deborah Drexler...").
Hi Steve. I can tell you it was Jim Penton who spoke with her, he told Lloyd Evans what she said. So these are very credible sources whom I trust 100%. Your frustration is understandable as we've had these second hand accounts about it for so long. There is absolutely nothing on the website she was using and she does not reply to messages.

Make of that what you will.
Personally, I think she feels it's better to have people as believers in the Watchtower, than non-believers out of the Watchtower, but that's just my take. Others think she's just been bought off by Watchtower representatives.
Over on ExJW reddit u/ziddina, a moderator, is doing a review of the whole book, section by section. So this way you get to read the whole book legally, if this is an issue for you.
If it's not, please contact u/wifibandit who definitely will not be offering pdfs in several languages (since as we know, thanks to Kim & Mike Brookes, that is a copyright infringement).
still read this forum from time to time, and a long time member originally since early 2000's.
recently lost my last surviving grandparent, my great and wonderful nan.
what a flood of emotions that released!
Scotty thank you for posting Acker Bilk, it was my nan's favourite!
I'm so sorry for your loss. I always thought jw paradise would be rubbish without oldsters and kids, they are the ones we love the most and bring so much joy to the world. You ( and I) were lucky to have wonderful grandparents...I treasure their memories deeply. my own poor kids don't have that due to death and shunning, and I believe it is a form of deprivation for them:-( :' -(
I echo everyone's words - if anyone still has their grandparents or great aunts /uncles talk to them all you can, enjoy their company because when u look back at your life, your relationship with them will be the thing your treasure most.
And the little sayings you laugh at...then you end up saying them yourself as you get older too!
(((((hugs)))))) Scotty :' -(
has anyone else had a moment, while still within the organization (and before learning ttatt) that caused them to stop and go, "this is kind of messed up.".
for instance, back i believe in the early 2000's, i was attending a dc with my family.
it was announced at the beginning of the convention that there was going to be a special announcement at the end, so for everyone to please try to remain until the very end of the meeting.
There was also a horrible talk about birds pecking the eyes out of people absolutely reveling in the horror doing the rounds on you tube. That finally brought home to me the horror of Armageddon. It was like a fire and brimstone American televangelist preacher. Horrible. I thought, my god, is that my religion?
