  that;s what my wife (and all jw's) gets to hear about us at the kingdom hall today, (hmmmm, i wonder if she'll raise her hand to answer this one) ... .

  watchtower study ... today, apostates and others who create divisions in the congregation use “smooth talk and flattering speech.” (romans 16:17, 18) they may pretend to care about others, but in reality, they are selfish.. (the watchtower - study edition (simplified version) 10/17 page 4 paragraph 7).

  Co.Co. when inside and when outside? I always thought it depended, as with parenthesis, whether the sentence is whole within the speech marks or extends outside of, too.

  Did I make sense? I have boys at SATS age is why I want to be sure.

  I had an alcoholic father ,,,My father had no problem with the witnesses continuing to "study" with me and allowed me to get baptised at age 16.

  He probably thought it would be a protection against alcoholism Sailaway, against his own demons

  My father suffered from bad depression and alcoholism, my mum left when I was 7 and utterly rejected me. Dad worked away from home a lot. Our neighbours converted then and I was like their little daughter, I spent all my time there so...childhood indoctrination coupled with bad childhood.

  i've never been completely shunned because i've never been baptized.

  my father side has always talked to me and included me in family events.

  but my mom's side is in denial of shunning me.

  my mom physically beat me pretty bad growing up to the point the state stepped because she put me in the hospital when I was 16..

  Mandated by the cult, if it helps the anger at all toward her. I'm not excusing it, it hateful. I made a fuss even as a believer that it was disgusting. But for your sake I want your anger to subside so if it helps to know the cult encouraged beating kids, especially in the 80s, 90s. They told parents it was showing love to do so " he who spares the rod is hating his child", that's the Bible for you, 3,000 year old peasant principals.

  So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today

  we all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.

  he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.

  he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

  we all know the gb like to impose rules upon the rules... but did anyone else out there have parents that implemented rules upon those rules?

  mine did.

  my mum tended to copy whatever the elders wives were doing and took it to the extreme.

  Agree with incognito - use the fact he needs rest to get the jw hangers-on out. I suspect though most high dependency psych wards don't let just anybody visit their intensive care patient ( they're not silly, they don't want their vulnerable patient triggered by the sort of guilt inducing stuff they say).

  Pale empower I'm so so sorry. Rant coming...I can't help it!

  Will these jw " carers" have access to him in the hospital? Hope not, so the poor chap gets a break.

  I urge you to reach out to his Consultant psychiatrist and fill him in as best you can with whats going on.

  If your family are in full on shun mode I wouldn't mince my words - when your mother said "he's made a promise to Jehovah" I would tell them, if your brother is being guilted "No! He's made a promise to a publishing corporation" and tell your sister straight out you don't believe in obeying "some random dead guy who made these rules in order to sell more books for his publishing corporation". Don't feed the monster and let them guilt him more, tell them straight this cult is what's killing him, along with many others.

  I might be tempted to give the hospital some info on cult programming by Robert Lifton but they might think you are telling them how to do their job.

  Stop harassing jws

  we want people to learn ttatt.

  we have numerous resources online to draw jws in so that they will wake up.

  however, i've noted some radical methods that have been used by fellow exjws, and quite frankly, this must stop.

  I understand where you are coming from with some of this, but...

  It's not normal for a total stranger to confront a person for their religious beliefs and use emotional tactics to win them over. A strange man speaking to a woman in the street could frighten her view of strangers. It has happened

  Isn't this exactly what JW's do in the preaching work ???
