I’m probably not going to be very popular here, but I think the fact the religion infantilises it’s members doesn’t help. For instance the guy in the other case posted on this thread - I think in his late 30s - having a relationship with a 17 year old. In the UK that type of relationship is legal and although it’s inappropriate I don’t consider it paedophilic . I think the repression and infantilisation of JWs seems to make this kind of weird relationship more prevalent among them.

i've known this guy since he was a kid and he has always been strange, in a nerdy kind of way.
he always wants to sound knowledgeable and wise when he comments at meetings, but i think he is bi-polar and depressed about who he is in life.

The real problem with the Middle East is not meddling by oil-hungry democracies; it is the tribalism and corruption of almost every Middle East ruler in recent history. Maybe King Hussein of Jordan was a rare exception.
They are not ready for democracy. Tragically it seems only a powerful and corrupt dictator is able to control the internecine fighting in the Middle East.
Also I hear a lot of talk about the evil Islamist terrorists and yes, they are.
But when did the terror against the west start?
oh yes, when the US invaded Iraq.
The beginnings of isis was when Russia invaded Afghanistan. The US backed the people who have evolved into isis.
Big business controls politics so however the politicians feel on a personal level about civilian suffering, the dollar will always win out.
And yes, since the bullshit we were fed over the Falklands war by the BBC, I will NEVER trust the propaganda the media pumps out.
Personally, I am deeply sorry about the Kurds and they very much need and deserve their own country. I believe they are the biggest ethnic group not to have their own land (but I may be wrong). I realise my own country played a large part in their current suffering by drawing up the boundaries as they did.
Being poor is lousy. It’s a hell of a life, when you’re poor. No one gives a crap.

by HiddenPimo ini saw this mentioned on reddit but no link - i found the article form this weeks bible study..... in the “congregation bible study” part of the meeting this week there was a part that said and i quote: “only jehovah god and his son can receive someone into the heavenly kingdom or the paradise on earth under that kingdom.
we should diligently cultivate friendship with them by using what material riches we have in supporting kingdom interests”.

That's because it's an American religion. Only 2 out of 8 grew up elsewhere.
Wow that's an interesting demographic, I had no idea. Very odd considering they claim to be Gods one true people whom God draws to him.
If it were, it would make more sense for people to come from everywhere in equal numbers.
I must remember to mention that to my next JW...

so--if we accept what JW's say--that there is only 1 god--jehovah, then ( by extention !) --see what i dd there----all those other religions that teach there is just one god..must also be worshipping jehovah.
so why would he want to kill them all..for worshipping Him ?

Not at all.
That’s what I think Stan. If there is one God - and most people seem to agree on that - then everyone is worshipping him, despite calling him a different name and having slightly different rituals.
The older I get the more I realise how arrogant Jehovahs witnesses are.
this reminds me of the way many dubs ( mostly women ) talk about their god, jehovah, as if he lives in the wardrobe and is their own personal friend.

I’m so glad material that informs jehovahs witnesses of the negative aspects of their religion is being made available in many different languages. So glad.
Remember many developing countries in South America and Africa that watchtower is targeting at the moment speak Portuguese, so that’s fantastic!!
We need more like this. Perhaps EXJW Critical thinkers would appreciate some of their videos translated into french and Portuguese..
Enjoyed the video and I also like to support our exjw women’s channels such as this lady channel, Susan Gaskin and stop the shunning! Since just like the witnesses our voices seem to be quiet.
