Boys pre-teen sexuality / erections.? Why ? If only for procreation ?
by smiddy3 inthis has been a bug bear my whole life i think and not really sure how to address it as nobody else ever seems to do so.. and it relates to the question if god really created humans .
he did a shithouse job in this regard.. i can`t speak for females this is entirely a male thing.
from my perspective.. male adolescents at a very ,very young age , babies , get erections periodically and it has nothing to do with sexual fantasies ,because they don`t even have an awareness of sex between a male and a female at this time.. and it is second inbuilt nature to masturbate to relieve, get rid of the erection .

by annihilator inu.s. supreme court rejects appeal by jehovah’s witnesses of 2015 california trial court ordersan diego, ca, october 24, 2019 --(pr.com)-- on october 7, 2019, the u.s. supreme court rejected the petition for writ of certiorari filed by the watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. (“watchtower”), requesting that the supreme court review a case filed by the zalkin law firm in 2013. in the case of jw v. watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. et.
al., the riverside superior court of california awarded the plaintiff, “j.w.,” a judgment of $4,016,152.39 plus interest at 10% per year after terminating watchtower’s defense, because it refused to obey the court’s order to produce files of known child molesters within the jw organization.
in 2018, the fourth district court of appeal in california upheld that decision.

Wannaexit I wonder what the might watchtower will do next!!
Cough up!😂 :))
I wish authorities had some way of freezing their assets until they hand over the list. I can't believe it's even legal and they don't arrest the GB for hiding criminals. I guess the issue is these are only hearsay reports. They will assume the people on this list have not been found guilty of these crimes (yet).

Shoddy I had never thought of that.
You have a lot of insight my friend.
Also, boys can get erections before they can even produce proper semen.
And girls menstruate shockingly young to my mind. I was 14 which is even on the later end. Apparently they've done studies and found girls menstruate later when they have a strong father figure in their life. They think it's to stimulate them to reproduce earlier if they only have females around in order to ensure a new male protector in the form of a partner ( obvs from when we were on the Savannah).

elders wont pray for someone?
by AuntBee ina former member said that elders told a relative of his after she was dfed that they would not be praying for her.
is that some kind of policy, or were they just doing their own thing in that instance?
taot.

Did you notice in that WT article Blondie posted, it did not even have ONE scripture it could apply to the statement about not praying for DF, sinning or struggling ones?!
Absolutely about as unChristian as it's possible to get ...if we're talking "principals" there, Watchtower 😡

Failed missionary learns to think differently: Daniel Everett

"When we go through life thinking we individually have got it all figured out , it can lead to a eared and simplistic veiw of the world. My way is perfect. Yours is crazy or evil. We can't eradicate false belief but things can improve if we practice intellectual humility & open our mind. If we realise SOME OF THOSE FALSE BELIEFS RESIDE IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY AND RECOGNIZE JUST HOW MUCH OF WHAT WE BELIEVE DEPENDS ON THOSE AROUND US"
I posted a little about anthropologist Daniel Everett on another thread about Amber Scorah, and how their experiences as "failed" missionaries, although from different Christian fundamentalist religions, tallied in so many ways. They both had to disguise their illegal proselytizing as an endeavour to teach and learn the local language.
Neither converted anyone but themselves ...or rather deconverted since they are now both atheists. But what I found most interesting was their take on being with people so vastly different from the group's they were used to, and how it opened their eyes to a whole new way of thinking.
The Pirahã people Don't have fixed words for colour or a number system and couldn't understand, for instance, why Daniel would come to tell them about someone neither he nor any of his family or ancestors had ever known! Neither do they have a concept for war or personal property. I highly recommend Daniels TED talk and book " Don't Sleep; there are Snakes"

Interestingly I've been reading a book by a missionary who went to convert a tribe in the Amazon jungle that has many parallels with Amber's experience.
Because this was outlawed(like Amber) he went ostensibly for a Linguistic organization.
Just like Amber, he had time and space away from his conditioning and the tribe had such a different way of thinking, they converted him....well he left an athiest!!
Get this ....they had no words for numbers and no counting and no words for colours. They would say the frogs are bigger ( more frogs) and the word for black was 'rotting blood' the word for red was 'like blood' and the word for green was 'like unripe'.

The "figurative" heart
by Sour Grapes inabout 25 years ago i gave a talk about how when the bible talks about the heart that it is the literal heart and how the heart and the brain are connected by nerve tissue.
the watchtower even stated that some people who received a heart transplant would take on some of the personality of the donor.then all of a sudden the borg changed and said that when the bible refers to the heart that it is figurative.
then when ever the watchtower referred to the heart it always put the word figurative in front of it.. does anyone know why there was a change in the use of the word heart?

Diogenesister
I don't know why they changed Sour Grapes, but as a wee child I very clearly remember being told that the heart has its own "mind" as such.
I still don't think it's one of the more outrageous medical faux pas Watchtower has made, after all the pain one feels in the heart is very, very real when one looses a loved one. I mean the pain is very much localized in the actual heart region so it seems pretty believable there is nerve tissue from the heart to the.brain...anyone know how that works??

#Persecution selfies: what do you think?
by Diogenesister inso apparently the new watchtower russia exhibition features a pretend cell for jws to take pretend "persecution selfies' and wallow in the glorious suffering that is essential for watchtower theology to work - yet is strikingly missing from the lives of 99% of witnesses.. in fact most governments go to great lengths to protect the rights of witnesses, spending millions in public funds either directly to watchtower - in the form of grants ( norway, germany etc) - in various types of tax relief, or in the money spent in court cases establishing watchtowers rights and freedoms (& protecting their kids, whether they know it or not).. i'm interested to know how everyone feels about this...particularly terry walstrom and other guys who have spent time in jail in the name of watchtower's freedom of conscience.
personally i think it reeks of desperation by watchtower and is another example of the type of fantasizing that witnesses regularly indulge in.. also....funny how the end is soooo close that they've had time to build a museum of watchtower history!!
anyone else see the irony in that?!

You're an intelligent person but historically illiterate, it must be said. There was the Luxor Massacre* in 1997. Islamist extremists beheaded and slaughtered a bunch of tourists in Luxor, Egypt, in 1997.
Too recent? Ok the founder of Islam, Prophet Muhammad, himself beheaded hundreds of Jewish captives, in accord with an Arabian judge's ruling. Muhammad dug trenches outside the court. Then the male captives were split into two groups: those who had underarm and pubic hair, and those that did not. Members of the first group were beheaded with a sword. I remember reading this account:
"An adult male Jewish captive was brought out. He had torn his expensive clothes so that Muhammad and his followers couldn't loot his clothes post mortem. He kneeled down and his head was struck off."
I've got a pretty good memory so it's close to being verbatim. Beheading is one of the Hudud punishments in Islam (the reason why Saudi Arabia beheads criminals).
These and many others like them are atrocities. Unlike Christianity, Islam never had a reformation.
If you care to honestly examine the history of the ME, you'll find that it is steeped in blood
Listen I've absolutely zero argument about how vile and violent Islam is. No question there.
I said atrocities specifically aimed at the West. The Luxor incident again happened after the first Iraq war.
I maintain, the assaults *specifically* against the West have all happened post the first Iraq war.
I'm pretty certain on that because I travelled alone and penniless in Muslim countries in the 80s and was greeted with nothing but the traditional middle eastern hospitality shown a guest. That could not happen now.

Another one bites the dust
by stillin ina close-by young brother, actually your basic, garden-variety, sexually-repressed, 40-year old virgin in the congregation has been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor.
i've known this guy since he was a kid and he has always been strange, in a nerdy kind of way.
he always wants to sound knowledgeable and wise when he comments at meetings, but i think he is bi-polar and depressed about who he is in life.

I’m probably not going to be very popular here, but I think the fact the religion infantilises it’s members doesn’t help. For instance the guy in the other case posted on this thread - I think in his late 30s - having a relationship with a 17 year old. In the UK that type of relationship is legal and although it’s inappropriate I don’t consider it paedophilic . I think the repression and infantilisation of JWs seems to make this kind of weird relationship more prevalent among them.
