Did You Know Any "Genuine"" Old School Anointed?

growing up in scotland in the 1970s in scotland the anointed were few and far between, but we had one old dude in our cong who claimed to be one of the anointed.

in the days when it was taken seriously.. i'd be curious how you viewed them.

thing is, he wasn't an elder, or even a ministerial servant, just a plain old publisher.. but he was revered like he had a hotline to jesus.. the other week i was talking to a friend of similar age to me but who hung around the wt a lot longer than i did, and he just commented "oh him... he was a doddery old fool who used to just sit and piss himself.

we had a couple of very elderly ones. I think “prickly” is probably the best way to describe them. But then so would you be if you’d sacrificed marriage and kids to sell books for no pay.🤨

We also had the wife of one of our elders....the one playing a first class game of “Elder turf Wars”all over our territory.

You know that feeling you get when there’s a partial solar eclipse obscured by cloud? That’s how it felt when she walked into the hall🧛‍♀️....you could actually feel the temperature lower by a degree or two🤣

Upon learning of a terminal illness would you return to being a JW to appease your family?

this is an hypothetical question...i am doing well.

but i was thinking about how my jw family, grandchildren and all will feel when their inactive grandfather dies with no hope of being reunited in paradise.

of course there would be immediate rejoicing if i came back to the "truth" and a surge of conditional love from the "friends".

Good question.

Im sort of in that situation with my poor dear brother. He’s a believer, but not a JW. In order to comfort him, I go along with what he wants to believe, even though I didn’t use to do so. 😰

Good point!

Except adverts cost money! Watchtower won’t spend ONE PENNY of its own money to gain converts and “save lives”. They prefer to keep their slaves in busy-work.

The name Jehovah in the New Testament

among the reasons the watchtower society gives in appendix c of the new world translation for inserting the name jehovah in the new testament is the following:.

· " in greek, is the definite article missing from before kyʹri·os (lord), where it would normally be expected grammatically, thus indicating that a proper name may originally have appeared in the greek text?

Does anyone know if this is a valid argument? It sounds like the copyists would not have known Greek grammar in order to have made such a blunder by replacing the tetragrammaton with Kyrios and neglecting to put in the definite article.

All I do know about this is that the experts, who speak read and write the language, as well as other ancient languages, say that the authors of the gospels were very well educated, Hellenised Jews. In fact they were so well educated they even know what prestigious ancient school they are likely to have attended merely due to the way they write and the way they formulate their stories. The stories are layered, like an onion.

In fact I believe it’s Mark people say has slightly ‘rougher’ Greek. Well the experts say that’s not quite true. In fact they say it’s a very stylised Greek, written intentionally that way by a very educated person. Much like, for instance, some authors will write in a colloquial style for entertainment value.

So to answer your question it’s doubtful the author made a grammatical error.

Edit: oh sorry I see you were asking if the later copyists made an error? Sorry I as referring to the original authors and very early copyists.

Do You Think Prostitution Should Be Decriminalized?

in the us there is a bill in the house of representatives to decriminalize prostitution.

what do you think about that?.

If they do, women should be at least 25 in my opinion. Anyone under that should be in school. They also need to ensure her money is her own, ie no violent boyfriends taking it. And that the women is psychologically healthy and sexually healthy.

Some extremely disabled men (&women)have no choice. It’s a disgrace that such ones should be penalised and made criminal because of it. I’ve even known nurses pushed into such a role through pity, with no experience and far from psychologically prepared.

2020 the society will continue to have financial problems with massive pay outs because of their lack of protecting their young people from a religion that harbors thousands of pedophiles.

thus this and other religions that has an 1800's mentality will continue to lose their young people.

with the religion's lies easily found on the internet the smart ones will continue to leave in droves.

I also can definite say what’s going to happen tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be my birthday, and my brother, who is going for an endoscopy tomorrow to see if his pancreatic cancer has spread, will find it has not and he will be getting out of hospital in time to be with his 1 year old first child for Christmas.

Thats my 100% guaranteed prediction.

I look forward to the UK investigation into CSA within Watchtower UK. We can prove the uk branch has a database of nonces.

Also, I believe the IRS is likely to investigate how much Watchtower spends of charity work.

I believe the big media centre is a tax write off because they are no longer producing Bible literature for education, per sa. So what are they doing with the money exactly?

Maintaining a large war chest with no intention to spend that money for charitable purposes is against the law.

So the Witnesses still believe in rapture

according today's watchtower, all the remaining ones of the anointed ones will be in heaven when the great tribulation breaks to join jesus in the battle against evil.

the watchtower was making the point that at that time god's organization will be ran by members of the 'other sheep'.

it didn't say how these remaining ones find themselves in heaven, but presumably they will be taken, i.e.

LoL Yes Biahi!! that’s the only “rapture”, or sudden disappearance of the GB we are ever likely to see.

That or a sudden skidaddle with bag loads of Watchtower loot when the corporation goes bust!

local, strange jw thinking

i was reading today that the last star wars movie will be playing next week.

doing a little searching, i found that there have been 12 movies in the saga total, ( box office, total (12 films): $9.323 billion.)..

it got me thinking about when the empire strikes back came out, it was the second movie ( 1980).

Something that always stood out to me, was an old semi-lighthearted practice amongst some JWs of bagging favourite pieces of real estate, for post-Armageddon occupation...whilst on the ministry.

Hey Alive, I agree! Not where I am from! I was really shocked when I heard people did this. Firstly, we where taught ALL pre~Armageddon buildings would be destroyed anyway ( yes! That includes you Watchtowers new WARWICK complex !!!) and secondly, it would have been deemed cruel, covetous, materialistic and VERY unChristian.

Wow. That was really her on her avatar. I always thought it was a model. I’ve read many of her posts. She seemed a very caring, interesting and thoughtful person.

im very sorry for your loss, but I’m real glad you had her in your life. As one who was closer to her aunts than her own mother I know how that loss can feel.
