I always think the way humans compartmentalise is the real key as to why we seem to 'know' without knowing. Why we can believe what we do is all to the good, whilst being patently bad in the eyes of most reasonable people.

"Everyone Wants To Leave"
by NotFormer ina thread about steve hassan re-emerged and got me looking him up.
his wikipedia entry had a point under "criticism" that there is an underlying assumption in his approach that all members of high control groups ultimately want to leave*.. while it is generally believed that there are a lot of pimos still attending, doing field service and giving lip service to the wt, i doubt that everyone within the congregations want to get out.
it's not always internally and logically consistent, but it's been around long enough for enough workarounds to make it tolerable to emerge.. what do you think?

Watchtower intentionally misleading the court?
by Vanderhoven7 inseems to me wt lawyers and witnesses cannot be trusted even under oath.. mara mitchell writes.
as far as their family members are concerned, normal family relations continue with the exception of spiritual fellowship.”.
attached is a video on how watchtower presents family members being treated by their family when defending themselves in court.. .

Vandy In fairness to Watchtower, the author's thumbnail makes him appear younger than 50. This is relevent because, in the 70s, we were taught you may have anything but spiritual association with DF family. I must caveat this statement that I'm from the UK and I don't know if it was different elsewhere, or for appointed males (some of us were pioneers, though).
I appreciate Watchtower became far more hard-line a short while later in the early-mid 80s.

LMsA A t-shirt with a Jack Daniel’s logo with a red X through it. Another with the visuals of a needle and a bottle of pills.
Now he’s extolling the euphoria behind drug use to already vulnerable people who are conditioned to believe anything they hear.
Great analogy. It's called "Euphoric Recall" and it's a real thing. Exjws definitely get it in spades with his s-l-o-w, neverending, dragged out rebuttals of JW broadcast.

It's all phooey.
My boys are 18 (not JW oc). I think they have maybe two friends who are in relationships with school sweethearts, but otherwise one is not interested and too busy swotting for exams prior to uni (he's had provisional offers from several Russell group unis to do maths and IT). The other is joining the army after 6th form exams & would like a girlfriend. He met one girl, had a few dates but she lived too far away to go "steady" which is what he wants. The other potential he liked moved back to china after a year at college here.
They and their friends are far from 'sex mad' and very sensible all around. In my opinion far more so than my generation!!!

Murderous Jehovah's Witness bludgeoned female customer before leading meeting. Spiritual paradise?
by Balaamsass2 in1/31/2024 in the strange but true category.
confused holy spirit appoints killer servant.
"" a twisted jehovah's witness bludgeoned a woman he rowed with over incomplete building works to death with a hammer, then merrily whistled as he packed up his tools and went to lead a service at the church where they met.

Was Ms Gordon a sister in the cong.?
I wonder whether he was DFed or jumped at the chance to use the "new light" and just claim, "I'm repentant."
Yes she was and this happened way before the noo lite. Probably over a year ago, given the court case happened a month or so back and murder cases take a long time to come to trial.
Edit: Sorry I realise you meant after the conviction! Boy they must be mighty desperate for elders if they have!

These men leading the witnesses at this point (who aren't very elderly) just HAVE to be complete narcissistic tools.😡😡😡
They *know* the score yet crave the power. You can just imagine the jumped up little toe rag thought "how dare this lowly female publisher question my abilities!!!

Spiritual Paradise? Jehovah's Witness cons JW seniors out of life savings.
by Balaamsass2 in3/28/2024 central california coast.

Not the first time I have seen this. A lot of con artists have operated in Congregations targeting seniors over the years. Watchtower's prohibition against "suing your brother" and "handling matters quietly through the elders" provides fertile ground for criminals
Watchtower itself is the biggest criminal of all, targeting seniors and conning them out of life savings, property and investments!!!
Watchtower hid behind these teachings to protect themselves from fraudulent "borrowing programs" from members...that they then refused to repay... guaranteeing to disfellowship if a JW victim brought charges against Watchtower. This happened to my Mother-in-law.
Heard of this multiple times. Sickening.

Just a random question?
by Riley incompletely unrelated to the wts.. i have a co worker who i use to hang out with his son in high school.
he doesn’t remember me.
that was 30 years ago.

Imho you should say something. It's been my experience that people love to have the opportunity to talk with people who knew and remember their loved one. This is especially true if it's been a long time since they passed. I mean your coworker will probably have friends/associates /colleagues/neighbours etc who came in to his life after his son passed and therefore he can't even reminisce with them about his son. You have a bond with him he won't find with just anyone.
Yes, he may get upset....that's natural. But I'm sure having someone that shares precious memories of his son with him will mean the world. Just let him 'take the lead' (lol) in when and how much he'd like to open up to you.
