  Terry I really, really enjoyed that! Best short story I've read in ages. Have you read ' The Children Act' by Ian McEwan (an old buddy of the real Hitch). In case not, it centres on the relationship between a dying JW teenager requiring a blood transfusion and the high court judge scheduled to decide his case. Be a good thred no?

  Grieving for the Living

  i originally wrote this blog a few years ago, but yesterday a friend that is struggling to decide whether or not she will tell her family that she no longer accepts the jehovahs witness religious doctrine reminded me of it so i am re-sharing (with updates).. its not always completely freeing to come out of the closet (as an atheist in my case) and i wanted her to understand that.. i had a very strange realization recently: i dont know what its like to be someones adult child.

  my parents didnt get the privilege of seeing me come of age.

  i didnt get walked down the aisle when i got married.

  Sometimes I think the grief is MORE intense in your situation, its so hard to get closure and the frustration and anger that fades with normal bereavement can raise its ugly head anytime - my heart goes out to you. You are a courageous and principled woman, a humanitarian soul.

  Judicial committee letter to elders

  the elders promised that we would talk about everything that was bothering me, yet, we ended up talking about less than 10% of it.

  hi guys,.

  i might go to the meeting.

  i stopped going in my heart properly in nov 2013, but i went to a couple of meetings to support a love one that was df'd and tried to teach them a little ttatt.. now another df'd loved one is coming to see me today and will likely encourage me to try and get ri'd, and i want to support her.

  KATE- Of course it's totally your decision to make-none of us can make that decision for you- however since you asked - I truly believe that many ex-JW's , some on this board even- may underestimate the POWER of cult mind control. If a person decides to sit in the atmosphere of hearing the catch phrases, the WT doctrines, and mind manipulation information coming off the platform- THAT is what can happen- mind control, mind manipulation and possibly re-indoctrination. It's not just a mind control thing ; it's a physiological change that occurs inside a persons brain neurotransmitters when this information comes into our minds. Our nerve or neurotransmitters over many years of JW indoctrination made familiar or common pathways through our mind that became WAY too familiar ( one reason it's hard for JW's to look at ANY other viewpoints their brains are blazed or branded with this neurotransmitter thought process

  Wow - shows just how like an addiction religon really is.

  Kate,

  You are one of the most beloved posters on this site. I'm saying this because what I'm about to say might sting a bit. My amateur psychological evaluation, and that is all that it is, is that your 'reasons' for going back to the KH have nothing to do with this sister. Nothing.

  We've all read your emotional struggles to find justice with the KH and its elders for the unjust way you were treated. Most of us have been there, and we deeply care, understand and feel your pain.

  I believe that is the sole reason you are considering going back to the KH. And I believe by asking you are trying to get us to talk you out of it. The more we rationalize the less rational we are.

  So to answer the question you posed: No, not in 1 billion years would I ever return to a KH given the scenario you described.

  Thats the best thing I've heard in ages.

  Interestingly, I two JW's have mentioned to me in the last year ( callers who dont know my background) that their GP's questioned their sanity! One was very close to making a psyciatric referal.

  Know what I find really disturbing? The use (multiple times) of the words "Master Plan." If that's doesn't scream "old Krout-controlling-Nazi-cult-leadership", I don't know what does. That is really creepy and weird.

  "Ya Schroeder, Franz told me dat ve hav to cut bach on uzing da gas chambers so much, ve need to conserve da Zyclon-B."

  It has always struck me, particularly post Rutherford, the disproportionate no of GB with teutonic sounding names.

  I've just finished teading it, so wish I could have met him and thanked him. Got a real lump in my throat when he talks about his guilt at leaving his wife childless. How dare they treat a man like that with such contempt - no civilized country decides who they want to convict and then goes looking for a crime with which to do so.
