  This week's resurrection video, will it backfire on the wt?

  the resurrection is supposed to be a joyous occasion?, if it ever happened!

  --well, this week's showing at the hall was the opposite, it was about death with violins playing in the background.

  a recently bereaved member, , full of tears, (like many others) could not contain herself.

  Alive After the video showing, it will be bright commercial hall lighting, end of meeting 'stuff', getting out to car park, hearing others laughing and calling - where's the responsible care of observing the pain of those who it may affect in a very raw and unbearable way?

  Because of course the GB like to brag that witnesses don't need to grieve as others do...forgetting of course that Jesus gave way to tears at Lazerus'passing...I remember fighting off the tears just watching others...heartless

  how in the world did they justify this torture?

  imagine the children forced to sit in the summer heat at yankee stadium for 12 hours a day.

  Incredible memories.Dunedan the little fair haired one slap bang under the raging midday sun with no protection!Wasnt it cruel that kids were not indulged even to the point of being given crayons?

  Enjoying all your memories folks - did we have less to do then?you all should write a book together - fascinating.

  i couldnt take seeing people from the kingdom hall.

  you guys wouldnt believe how many jehovahs witnesses shop in the goodwill.

  i couldnt take it.

  Go to St Vincent DePaul or Salvation Army....may cut down how many jws you see and if they say it is wrong why are they there....or go to garage sales on Saturday am or Friday.

  Op title is a bit ambiguous - Blondie she was working there, she quit her JOB at the goodwill!

  Viviane Simply claiming that because the government COULD use force means everything they do is by force is the intellctual silliness of saying all men are rapist because they have the equipment to be a rapist, or that all women are prostitutes because they have the ability to be so.

  IOW, it's not true and intellectually vapid.

  Viviane Absolutely untrue, see above. I highly doubt the threat of violence is there when you check a book out of the library or pay your car taxes.

  Library books are not the governments concern. Taxes are..you dont want to pay up, you with be forced to....threat of force constitutes violence ex vi termini

  Some thoughts on guilt.

  had an interesting conversation with my wife recently.

  she struggles with physical, emotional and psychological problems which have often caused her to miss meetings.

  she mentioned how she is equally tortured by guilt if she misses meetings and ministry, and severe stress if she does them.

  Dubstepped you are totally right...the org doesn't guilt you into doing more it shames you , guilt can on occasion be healthy shame never is.

  New day you could try looking up shame..and some ways to combat it. Mindfulness is another fantastic tool for combatting depression...and walking. Every day.And by the way I have known some wonderful elders who have had the most posative impact on my life, and I'm an atheist now but I'm still grateful - so don't worry about the past we can only do our best with the tools we have at the time.

  Oh wow that must have driven you nuts. If the are shunning you it must have been agony. I'm so sorry. I hope you can find something else soon, the people that work there are usually great.

  Its funny all the different names we have for them.

  In the UK we call them charity shops and my New Zealand husband calls them op shops - short for opportunity.

  johnny santa cruz and i met around 1959 at a movie theater in fort worth, texas.. the purpose of that meeting was to create a fanclub for horror movie director william castle.

  a week or so later, johnny stopped me as i was walking home from elementary school.. "hey--i think i know you.

  weren't you at the william castle fanclub thing?".

  Swearing on the bible

  on the subject of truth.

  ..... i was always under the impression that one of the reasons jws couldn't do jury duty or go to court etc was that we were not allowed to swear on the bible.

  ..as in i swear to tell the truth the whole truth etc etc .

  Smiddy Matthew 5:33-37 was used to support that belief ,particulary vs 37 which states

  " just let your word yes mean yes your no no for what is in excess of these is from the wicked one "

  Definatley Smiddy, in theUK 70s to 80s we were taught this very thing..no swearing or oaths period and definitely not on the bible..Blondie's quote is from 2003.. Tota!l about face from the GB
