Victoria Wood dies
by Xanthippe ini'm shocked to hear that victoria wood has died of cancer.
she was only 62, so sad.
she was one of the first female comedians, and paved the way for the those women that followed.

Oh no, I had no idea. She was every girls heroine when I was a " lass". Very sad. -

Pinky ring, no please not there.
by pleaseresearch inok brothers and sisters, we need to use our imagination, and you might just question mine at the end of this haha.. but how would you feel, seeing a governing body member at the same holiday resort you and your family have just checked into?
you think this might be great to ask him questions and so approach him as he's lying on his back, sprawled on his beach towel.
as you get closer you look at his swollen, bloated feet and think what rich, creamy, buttery foods is he eating at bethel.

Evolution: The Deal Breaker
by Hadriel infirst off i do believe there are some evidences of evolution or i should probably say adaptation.
i do believe this exists in various forms.. however the deal breaker for me with evolution is the chick or egg problem.
there are tons of theories that get passed around as proof of evolution however these are usually examples much further down the evolutionary chain.. what i mean is let's start at the beginning!

RThere was an interesting article a few weeks ago that looked at it from the point of view of physics. It took the perspective of living things as local and temporary systems that find efficient ways to capture energy and defy entropy. It showed how life is seems to be inevitable.
cofty would you mind saying where you saw that, if you can remember please?

Under WT rules, can JW women file for a divorce? Or can only men file?
by JimmyPage inthe reason i ask is because while watching the "dateline" episode about ralph candelario, the claim was made that only jw men could file for divorce, not women.
.
i had never thought about this before.. also, how does this apply in cases where a husband is "apostate" while the wife is faithful to wt?

To answer the OPs question a JW women may file for divorce, under certain conditions, and has exactly the same rights to do so as a JW man. -

Korean News : CoC in Korean
by AntiEntropy inhi bros.. after my father's publishing his book, "15 questions after 40 years of jw" , many ex-jw bros in korea became motivated to rush to the coc korean project.
however any secular project needs a fund eventhough it's a not-for-profit.
fortunately, a bunch of bros decided to donate generously $300~$7,000 to this unprofitable business.

I'm with Hadriel 100%. Everyone's situation and personal priorities are different...but if you do go, don't let it get to you..don't let them take the joy out of life from you..have some fun with it if you can, maybe help someone question things..above all do what's best for you and yours but don't let anyone blackmail you! -

I was disfellowshipped because of Satan
by elbib induring co visit, i took him for a bible study i was conducting.
during the session, the householder said he believed satan was not a person, but personification of evil within us.
i left co to handle householder’s doubt.

The Jews do not believe that Satan exists as a sentient being but is termed the " Yetzer hara" or "evil inclination" . Jesus, being a devout Jew..similarly could not have believed he was a person. The Satan in Job is given the name " adversary" as a TITLE not a proper name, in the sense of a lawyer argueing for the prosecution ( of Job). The title Ha' Satan" appears twice in the Hebrew bible..in Job and Zachariah. The other 8 occasions the word is used either as a verb or using the term as" a hindrance" or to " thwart".
How else could a Satan have reasonably been granted audience with God after mankind was condemned to death for a disobedience that the witnesses say was instigated by" Satan", it doesn't make any sense. In any case no mention of Satan is made in genesis - only a talking snake!

Im wondering...maybe the GB are truly mentally damaged, not just deceivers.
by sowhatnow inhas anyone by chance read the latest issue of pshychology today?
april issue, article title' moment of impact'.. i havent fiished reading it yet, but it got me thinking, how likely is it that many born in jws [ teens in particular since thats the age these issues start to appear] will end up with these problems mentioned in the article?
i know of a few adults that have this problem, schizophrenia, bi polar, ect.

I think its extremely likely...I've been in a psychiatric institution and have been told that I am hi polar. I think growing up in a cult is likely to exacerbate any underlying mental disorder and trigger episodes of illness as you say teens are especially vulnerable.
The chicken and egg problem is do cults produce mental illness or are folk pre disposed to mental illness attracted to cults?
As regards the GB they have so much invested in the cult now its too big of a u turn for them to face reality...but yes, believing BS that you yourself make up (ie I am special and different, gods chosen one etc) IS a type of psychological illness or malfunction if you like..those guys need an " intervention" LOL!
When will families start having " intervention" for their witness relatives the way families of addicts do! Roll on the day!!
