Crisis of Conscience - The Movie
by cedars ini know... how cool would that be??!.
having just commented on the post by trailerfitter about the situation with his wife, and how i have personally found the book crisis of conscience by ray franz to be the perfect antidote to the society's perception of itself as being god's earthly organisation, the thought occurred to me: what if there was a movie about ray franz and his life?
obviously the society would be in uproar, and letters would be read out to all congregations all over the world not to go and see it, but just imagine!

I also think a good director would be Duncan Bowie, David Bowies son.

I personally think the right screenplay could really make a film based on Rays life a real critical success. He was a very bave and principled man who gave up much lost potential to become a witness( as do we all), then at the end, when he had most to gain by remaining a witness, he left for reasons of loyalty, decency and conscience. He remained a Christian, don't forget. The public would love it.
And Matt Damon...absolutely.

Major Doctrinal Changes Must Be On The Way
by notsurewheretogo inthe statement in the article "who is leading gods people today?
" in the feb 17th study edition of the wt is very interesting.. it states: ""the g.b.
is neither inspired nor infallible" ..we can err .in doctrinal matters....".

Notsurewheretogo Imagine a child needing a blood transfusion now to save their lives and the parents have just read that WT study article that the GB may get doctrines wrong. How can they obey them by refusing a blood transfusion when the GB MAY be wrong about their interpretation of the meaning of that scripture about blood?
You don't suppose those weasels are attempting to extricate themselves from potential lawsuits now that the Canadians are on to the pressure HLC's bring to bear on vulnerable patients. "Well they don't have to listen to us, we don't say we never get things wrong"

Anyone else a fan of Red Letter Media?
by schnell inprobably my favorite band of cinephile miscreants on youtube is red letter media, which has, among other things, a series called "best of the worst".
they have a sub-series of that called "wheel of the worst," where a bunch of crappy old vhs tapes, either sent in from fans or added by the guys, are stuck to a plywood wheel and 3 of them are randomly selected for forced viewing.
here's the thing.

Think some charity shop's doing a special on cult vhs's ?!(and not in a good Nosferatu, Rocky Horror way)
Those guys are hysterical.
Edit Bardamu "I was hoping so hard for the wheel to stop on it"
Maybe another time...let's request it !

James, just a question. Have you actually told any of them not to call? Just that it seems to me they are so desperate these days unless you specifically requested a DNC they wouldn't necessarily stop coming no matter what you told 'em!

New movie by Mel Gibson 'Hacksaw ridge'
by barry ini just went to a pre screening of this movie about an adventist guy who didn't want to kill but joined the army as a medic on the front line.
desmond doss saved 75 men in one operation singlehanded on the island of okinawa where desmond worked lowering men down a 400ft cliff to safety.. i thought this may be of interest to jws because of the pacifist stand they also have.. the movie comes out on the 4 th november..

Petr Muzny: A Law Professor Explains His Faith
by konceptual99 inthis is absolutely feckin' priceless.. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/videos/viewpoints-origin-of-life/petr-muzny-law-professor/.
in yet another appeal to authority, jw.org has trotted out a professional to vouch for creation.
this guy is a law professor.

Not to be unpleasant but this guy's no "law professor". In French un profeseur is merely a teacher. Ok he has a PhD, that May make him a Dr of Law, but not necessarily a professor. Where does this dude teach? It could be an adult education institute, the local community college as you Americans call it. Not putting anyone down who is a teacher, where ever they teach. Just saying. it's not beyond most people's Ken, given the time and money, to get a PhD. It certainly doesn't make him an "expert" in evolution.
But even a teacher at high school, teaching logic, would not make such a poor analogy ....effectively he used the old watchmaker on the heath and turned it into a bench in a forest. It's been utterly debunked by philosophers long ago. How can an expert in logic not know an undergrad example such as that.
I reckon he fell for one of his JW community college students ...and had to convert to marry her.well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Some recent baptism figures in the UK - is there a "bounce back"?
by freddo inwell, round my way (south of the uk) all the way up to and including the regional conventions this summer, baptism numbers have been extremely low.
but i have just received news of three recent circuit assembly days where the figures seem to be higher.
(all have been across the last three weekends at a uk assembly hall in october).

Shepardless In relation to Philippines, Watchtower seems to have more success in poorer Catholic countries, and perhaps this is an example of that.
Shepardless Angola is a very poor country and also very Catholic, the population speaking Portuguese and very influenced, culturally, by their ex colonists. So your theory works for Angola too.
