  I wrote to Mr. Angus Stewart regarding the "inactive" status claims made by the Watchtower at the ARC

  this is the email i have just sent to mr. stewart angus, who has been conducting the questioning of the jw leaders during the australian royal commission dealing with child abuse cases among the jehovah's witnesses, concerning the claims made that a jehovah witness who wishes to walk away from the organization can simply become inactive and avoid being shunned:.

  dear mr. angus stewart,

  i have followed with interest the videos of the arc regarding the jehovah's witnesses in australia.

  I think the recent assembly whereby they went on record as encouraging the shunning of inactive ones would be the thing to draw their attention to.

  What is it like at Warwick Bethel?

  from reading about people's first and second hand experiences about working at wt world headquarters back in the 70s and 80s era, the hypocrisy and lovelessness caused many bethelites to quit even before their term ended, some even leaving to never again return to a kingdom hall.

  that, coupled with open access back then at bethel to the literature of watchtower's early days can easily open the eyes of any rank and file jw to the society's occultish beginnings.

  fast forward to the warwick bethel today.

  That would involve most, if not all, organized religious groups who, in one way or another, prosper on the backs of property investments

  But Steve, the church owns a lot of land and property in Southwalk, a London borough next to mine. And you know what it does with it? Rents out lovely houses at a minimum rate to the poor and pensioners.

  Shunning - Are Mothers Most Fanatical?

  on many posts by those with experience of df or da shunning, it look to me that the most fanatical observers of the shunning practise are mothers, and when a person approached parents about their own doubts or intentions, approaching the mother the most daunting prospect .

  odd that visiting warwick leaflet has a picture of a meeting of some sort with a room comprising men only, given the subordinate role given to women, one might think they would be more liberal over shunning close ones, but not so.. what drives this, is it grabbing an opportunity to be more visible by their loyalty, or low level of education of a lot of dubs so that the sisters blindly accept direction or authority.

  i might have expected some kick back against the shunning practise by sisters giving evidence to their independence of thought.. our real thinkers here will be able to explain this fanaticism of loyalty better.

  I have heard of one recently DF child whose father is dying of cancer and has decided to hard core shun his child.

  It reminds me of the cartoon of God cooking up the world in a big pot - adding light skinned people, big nosed people, dark people etc etc then lastly adds some " JERK" seasoning to make things interesting.

  This dad is simply a jerk.

  Surely the truly Christian thing would be to sacrifice your guaranteed place in paradise by NOT shunning your kid instead using your little time to try to lovingly convert him?

  Should not parents put their children first? Risk the ire of God to save their child????

  Its all topsy turvey for a Christian to selfishly grab at their own salvation!

  When it comes to mums, women, as always, seek control when they lack it in life....unfortunately the only control a JW women has is over her kids. No matter their age. And this is why it is so stupid for mum's to shun. The WT has NOTHING TO TAKE FROM THEM if they refuse to shun. No titles or power. Well, maybe pioneer, but they won't stop you preaching those same hours if you won't shun your child. With men they can and will demote you. Women cannot be demoted because there is nowhere lower to go.

  So why don't the JW mothers rise up and refuse to shun. Really what could WT do....they are the real workforce, the backbone of the org.

  Does anyone here want to be saved or have the urge to worship?

  i don’t know about any of you but does anyone else share my lack of impulse to worship anything?.

  i became a jw when still at school and had been puzzled at the time by the posters outside of evangelical churches telling me to repent and come to jesus and be saved.. for me it was an irrelevance, i never felt like being saved...what from?

  i was happy as an exploring type of child, i never knew of anything wanting to be worshipped and i didn’t need to worship anything either..

  I never truly understood the whole "worship" concept anyway. It always felt an odd thing for a highly intelligent being to require of us anyway. What exactly does worship entail? Doing what it asks? We do that for many people/ govts etc. Praying seems more or less a long list of demands and requests. Hymns? Well we enjoy music anyway usually.The bowing (done in prayer) is just a ritualised form of greeting a superior we continue in Japan, until recently in Germany and still when greeting royalty.

  What is it about worship that differs from what we do in our lives anyway?

  now that trump is on his way to making america great again, will you consider moving here where you can get the best healthcare and education that anyone with a lot of money can buy, plus the ability to buy all the guns you need to protect yourself?

  Average Joe I would have to agree with you but I'd add one point. The people are a definite plus point, nicest people in the world...and the health care system ( or lack)is absolutely terrifying.

  However this home-state free university education for those who can't afford - if I understand that a arite - is great. In fact it seems to me in comparing the two an American education seems pretty damned good.

  Perhaps someone from the US can confirm or deny, as they say?

  Also Rainbow_troll why not try sunny Scotland...another place to get a free university education with the added advantage they speak your language ( well...usually LoL!!)

  Deacon blue I'd put money on you being a Scotsman. Only Scotsman have a lifelong obsessive DEVOTION to rubbish bands from the land of their birth like yours and " the wets" LoL!

  Also I'm pretty sure Doubtful1799 means 40 years since his BAPTISM which would probably mean he's served longer than you or similar since back then they didn't baptise young kids. And you are definitely no older than 50.

  even in a religious culture that advocates the murder of victims as honorable, fathers and brothers are typically the perpetrators of horrific violence against female family members whose only crime was to be the victim of another, the killing of a child by its mother stands out as particularly unnatural and depraved.such a heinous act occurred recently in sohag, egypt when a mother of a two-year-old child took the life of her child rather than protect it from violent sexual assault by its own grandfather.. a muslim mother identified only as “merfat” was awakened by screams in the middle of the night and found her father, faraj, in the act of raping her daughter.. .

  rather than acting out of a natural, protective instinct, the 23-year-old mother chose to shield her father from scandal as taught by muslim theology and sharia law.. merfat told authorities that she took her daughter, little grace ahmed, from the grandfather, placed her in a tub and held her head under water until the child drown.. alik akhmim, chief detective of the police in sohag told egyptian reporters that “traces of blood” had been found in the little girl’s anus, evidencing the degree of force and injury the child endured at the hands of her mother’s father.. this kind of act is referred to as an “honor killing” thought to place the reputation of the family above that of any individual member, and which is used to punish the victim rather than hold the perpetrator accountable.. murdering rape victims is common in countries and communities that adhere to sharia law where the crime is rarely reported for fear of exposing the family to shame.. “honor killing” is no longer limited to predominantly muslim countries or the middle east.

  t's reprehensible, but is being dealt with as crimes by the authorities, and should be prosecuted harshly. Hopefully, it will die out as the younger generations begin to assimilate into the general population.

  Sadly most of the child grooming rings in the north of England are 2nd and 3rd generation Muslims. Huge Muslim communities have been around here since the late 1950's and early to mid 1960's.

  I'm not specifying where the honour killings stem from, merely stating it has been a problem for some years.

  i went to meeting today and the sister in front of me was upset song 134 now song 139 no longer contains jehovahs name.

  they took it out.

  i never even noticed .

  I can see how "how well you have done!!"

  Sounds very patronizing though!

  I heard a few recent prayers, too, that kept giving so much glory and praise to the Governing Body.

  Really it's quite sickening...The elders go ON AND ON AND ON thanking the GLORIOUS ONES, the govbod, with a quick mention of God at the end. Anyone else notice that change recently??
