  this poor girl was baptized at 9yo.

  .

  she isnt old enough to buy alcohol, to vote, to decide her own medical treatment, to buy a pet, to travel alone... yet she was deemed old enough to dedicate her life to a religion that will cut her off from her family if she ever leaves.. here she is applauded for shunning her own sister who tried to keep in contact with her after waking up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yzgnfda8ki.

  Flipper No emotion, no expression of feeling on her face- not until she hears the applause from the audience - THEN she smiles due to the cult approval of her shunning her dfed sister. So freaking creepy.

  She's been scripted, coaxed into doing it - as you say for that little bit of approval at the end.

  She totally lit up when they clapped. JW's are taught from a young age they are worthless individuals - evil, broken sinners - in everything about yourselves outside slaving for Jehovahs organization. So very sad the only encouragement and approval she gets will not be for sports, music, schoolwork, or just generally being a great little person. No. The only pat on the back she will EVER get is for being a submissive work horse for a cult.

  Watchtower's unscriptual boasting about works

  nothing big here, just a little musing on this scripture at ephesians 2.8-9 that definately states that only faith saves, not works, in case men start to boast about their amazing works.

  "8for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of god, 9not of works, that no one would boast.

  well my word, i would definately say witnesses *do nothing but boast*, especially now on jw broadcast.

  Well my word, I would definately say Witnesses *do nothing but boast*, especially now on jw Broadcast. In fact many exJW'S call KH meetings " boasting sessions" LoL!

  This is why the Elders should always call the WT society or personal attorney before ever talking to the Police.

  this is probably going to unnerve some on here or make them uncomfortable.we always hear, why didn't the elders call the cops first instead of the wt society (lawyers/attorneys).

  in cases of child molestation or other incidents.this video is why and if you're smart you'll follow their example.i'm not taking the wtbts side on this just so you know in advance because i do not agree with the two witness rule at all.but be that as it may,this is by far the best lawyer/attorney and law professor i've ever heard on the subject of why you should never talk to the police and always let an investigation be made through counsel.this is why in the usa you have the right to remain silent when talking to police/authorities but even more important what the fifth amendment really entails and why it would behoove us all to understand what can happen even if you are totally innocent and have nothing to hide but how things can go horribly wrong.if i ever have to go to court for anything i can only hope that i got a lawyer as competent as this one the vid is approx 46 minutes long but well worth investing that time because if you had to talk to a lawyer it would cost you a lot to receive what this professor covers in this.the majority is from the law professor and the remaining minutes are of a former police captain/investigator with his insights and opinions.and just to be clear, i'm not suggesting that the elders not call the police because they should in cases of child molestation but rather they better get legal advice to protect themselves so that they don't have to answer for the wtbts decisions.look how many former (ex) elders we have on sites like this one and others and i'm so happy they got free of the wt but also they didn't get in trouble by accidentally saying/doing the wrong thing.all of us can benefit by following this advice in the video and i hope you enjoy it and to know what your rights arehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-7o9xyp7ee.

  Stupid Australian women in US rang police and got shot by cops.

  Chook I appreciate your sentiments, but I don't think you can call this poor women stupid. She thought an assault was taking place and she did the neighborly thing, what I have certainly been trained since childhood to do, call the police. I live in the UK where these days most cops are there to help their community and no policemen can carry firearms without extensive training and psychological testing.

  SBF The book of Enoch is accepted... by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

  I believe the E.O.C. accepts the most comprehensive list of apocryphal works. Interesting since it's the most ancient church.

  I like the book of Enoch. It explains the real reason Soddam and Gomorrah was so reveiled. Apparently they did not follow the deeply venerated middle Eastern practice of HOSPITALITY. God became enraged when they condemned a daughter of Lott for rescuing a starving stranger in the town square. These were the crimes that cried out " clear up to heaven".

  They gave no charity in the midst of their wealth, and had blood on their hands because of it.

  every picture i have seen at him at beth shirim and other private places are with a bottle of alcohol.. while for me personally i couldn't care less anymore.... for jw's this is low moral character.

  so i'm an going to guess he was a functioning alcoholic... how did that work with his closest workers?

  Very interesting about the shipping manifest- that she definitely travelled everywhere with him.

  Regarding the video: Absoltely facinating. He reminds me of Jack Nicolson, the way he talks! Nice looking guy I imagine the women are real lookers in the family!

  People are Definately more forthright these days. Sometimes that's a good thing, though, as it's very easy to bury the truth when you couch things in flowery language.

  I think it's partly because the cultural norms around drinking were different then (prohibition in parts of the USA notwithstanding). Also, remember he was very well off and from the upper middle classes and the rules are completely different for them.

  Its like the old cliché of poor people are mad, rich people are eccentric.

  Were you me in trousers?? I was the kid that went to other people's houses for *their family worship* and I too would read those dang books ( including the insight books) as bedtime reading. I was also cripplingly shy and became a clown in order not to get too close to people.

  I look forward to hearing the rest. Very enjoyable!

  Anyone recall someone disfellowshipped for gluttony???

  gluttony seems to be a sin that jw's like to ignore .there are several scriptures that point out that gluttony is a sin, proverbs 23:20-21 "do not join those who gorge themselves on meat".....also i read somewhere that 1% is the number of disfellowshipped jw's each year......how do prove someone is a glutton and not just a person who love food???

  • Approximately 4 out of 5 citizens in Samoa, Tonga and Kiribati are obese or overweight, US is 37th on the list....An obese person in my mind one who can not get out of bed, unable to walk, 400-500 pounds...

  • There's a good physiological reason for that. Polynesian's need to exercise around 3 times more than Europeans to loose the same amount of weight.
  • Another reason why weight is not a barometer of how much food you eat/gluttony.

  I don't how historically accurate it was but I have read that wealthy Romans, during New Testament times, would hold days long banquets where they would routinely make themselves sick in order to cram more food inside.

  Perhaps this is why gluttony was such an issue for 1st century Christians, especially given that poor people routinely went hungry.
