Let's talk about Blood again....

i know we have all talked about this topic before, but for some new ones on the forum, or to refresh ourselves, i wanted to start this thread.. the society likes to go on about the sacredness of blood, and how it should not be transfused etc.. they liken it to a symbol of life itself.

something that should be respected and therefore not transfused.. but, what is more important: real life, or a symbol of life?.

an illustration came to mind.. if we give a bunch of flowers to a loved one as a symbol of our love for them, are those flowers more important than the love itself?

The ancient Isrealites fetish with blood and "nephesh" or "spirit" has always reminded me of the animist tribesmen who thank the spirit of the animal they hunt and kill for giving it's "spirit" - or life - to preserve their (the hunters) life.

You can see the connection there, the ritual probably evolved from this idea.

Actually Fishy does make one good point with his Watchtower post stating autologous blood is between Jehovah and the publisher.

I wish more pregnant jw moms would see it, and store some of their own blood for emergencies. This at least would be a start, and save many lives. It might be worth Obstectric medics having a copy of that watchtower to hand!

fukitol There is not a single scripture where the prohibition is given where a soul has not been lost. In all cases, the blood not to be consumed has come from a dead soul.

I agree with you and Cofty completely.

What's more I believe this ritual is related to, for example, what the Kalahari Bushmen and many other tribes do when they hunt and kill a creature. They will offer some kind of prayer or do a ritual to atone for the taking of a life. I believe the Isrealites had a slightly more sophisticated, or maybe regulated, form of this. The sentiment behind the behaviour is the same.

i'm tired of hearing these constant attacks on white supremacists after the events in charlottesville.

why are moderate white supremacists being lumped in together and sharing the blame for the actions of one reprehensible man that misinterpreted the ideals of white supremacy and became violent?

clearly the motivation of such attacks on white supremacists is nothing other than racism.

Sure, I can see how it is less of an indictment of someone's moral integrity if they were a white supremacist in 1860 vs today, but that makes the underlying ideology no less repugnant.

I think historians and sociologists/philosophers etc will look at the particular time in history and if there were any people who were raising consciousness against something, they will judge that a particular individual was more reprehensible in believing it. So for example someone who lived in Bible times is less likely to be judged for accepting slavery than someone who lived in the late 1800s.

Therefore, there is no excuse for violent Islamicists who live today. Period.

and i am finding the adjustment to the real world far more difficult than i ever imagined...i f...it has been about five years since i totally woke up to the fraudulant nwt and then all my other doubts i had carried for years were proved true as well.

but almost all of my few friends are exjw or slack jw's and i feel so isolated...my sons friends are mostly exjw too but not their gf's and they have way more normal friends .

how have you done at replacing lifelong friends and family?

I wish we could set up a charity for ex cult victims - victims of shunning '- in his memory. I live in the UK, but I feel like a charity that could provide free emergency councilling for those in this situation would be such a wonderful thing. I know we have the Samaritans, but sometimes it's difficult for people to really understand the pain, if you haven't been there.

ok, i'm not one for conspiracy theories but lately i've uncovered some interesting facts that i think warrant some attention.. first of all, russell was a freemason.

all the early watchtower and books he authored have freemason symbology and art throughout them.

not a big deal i thought, until i read more about freemasons and the so-called "illuminati", a group of 13 families that supposedly control the world.. supposedly these 13 families, such as the duponts, mcdonalds, kennedys, .

Peteza If I didn't take care of my aged or sick dog or cat, I would be thought of as a cruel person but God apparently intended for animals to get sick and grow old and die.

Some Good News About Me (Although Anthony Morris Will Be Furious)

just wanted to share with you some good news i'm really excited about.

i have been accepted for university to study psychology and counseling.

my goal is to become a counselor and, in time, to specialize on treating those who have left high control relationships/groups like we all did.. it'll take a few years before im qualified but studying in university has been a dream of mine since i was 12, which was systematically dashed to pieces by watchtower.. .

We desperately need people trained to help cult victims ...who would think this could be such a problem in the twenty first century? Might be worth brushing up on knowledge of how Islamic extremist groups work too, although I know the therapy will be the same whatever the high control group.

Will there be no pain or limited pain?

If there isn't we will all be walking around with no legs and arms after a while. Imagine sitting too close to the fire: you don't know you are because you can't feel pain....so you start to burn..but you don't know you are because you can't feel pain etc etc... you get the picture.

My main question would be: If there is no suffering or pain in paradise, would we loose our sense of empathy and what would happen to us if we did, what would paradise relationships be like?
