I think the age jw's marry is relevent to this discussion, as you brought out. Lloyd talks about behaving like " a married man", but I would suggest "a married boy" would actually be more appropriate.

He was probably early twenties at the latest and yes, kids that age are girls and would describe themselves as such, unless they are particularly politically and socially aware ( I actually knew some feminist separatists in the 80s who called themselves "wimmin" at that age, but this is a rare level of awareness).

We need to seperate out gossip from a persons verifiable actions or our concerns won't be listened to.

I just feel because exitting jw's can be so vulnerable to hero worship, they need to know their stories are worth so much more than a name check at the back of an ambitious you tubers pamphlet.

i just realized that i was 39 years old when i joined this discussion board.

i remember the morning conversations that always brought me laughter, and i think there were only a but about 9 or 10 regulars back then!

i will now turn 57 years old in a few months.

Work Colleague Went To a JW Funeral - His Experience

so the guy in my office on the desk next to me has just got back from the funeral of his wifes sister.

this was his first time in a kh and full on exposure to jwdom.. bit of background: the deceased jw was not a born in, she was a convert when she was in her teens.

she died last week at the age of 82. the poor old dear was still zealously knocking on doors while in ill health.

Anyway, so my colleague tells me, her will stated that she be buried rather than cremated due to "the resurrection".

Perhaps someone told her on the doors that without an immortal soul her resurrected body is just a clone of her!

Either way it's her own idiosyncracy as don't think jw's teach that.

something just dawned on me today as i processed my assimilation into the real world (thanks to our new poster, @jester, giving me a major throwback to my first post).. when you're a jehovah's witness, you really are in some sort of la la land.

things which are perfectly normal are acts of eating from the table of the demons.

things which are horribly grotesque and extremely unjust are branded as "righteousness".

Paley I always likened it to North Korea. Even haircuts are monitored.

I found out North Korea, outsource some of their prisons to Russia, POLAND, Cuba, but they are worried any prisoners will escape to the west or South Korea. To be sent to an outsourced prison you must fit some criteria the main one being married with children etc because they hold them hostage, you can't take your family with you.

Watchtower really is like North Korea as they too hold your family hostage

What if the crucifixion never took place..

i googled it and pretty much my understanding is the same as what i imagine.

no one really knows, your guess is as good as the next.

interesting thought to consider imo..

Just thought I'd let you know something I found of interest.

Its just that that crucifixion was used by the Romans not just because of the pain involved, but because it was their practice to leave the body up on the cross to rot and for the animals to pick at, Jewish or not.

Not only that, but what we know about Pontius Pilate it's extremely unlikely he would be compassionate enough to let someone take any body down, let alone that of a Jew. He had cared nothing about the people he ruled or their sensibilities.

Its likely Jesus body was never buried and therefore the story of the disappearance of the body is false.

I know who you mean, the chap that wrote the essay on the creation book. His family where deep in and I think they were friends or relatives with GB member Schroeder, who he spoke with, but was only basically able to give him the answer "faith". In fact if I remember rightly, he even went to New York Bethel and questioned the main author of the creation book, whose name also slips my mind.

Is his story on jwfacts, or is it a book..danged if I can remember.

Love your story, beautifully written. You are obviously a journalist in your alternate, twilight, unlived non JW life!!

Why do Jehovah`s Witnesses believe everything will be Hunky Dory after Armageddon ? I have news for them.

they seem to think that all they will do is enjoy a carefree life with little or no concerns problems or worries whereas nothing could be further from the truth... according to the bible.. without trying to speculate on these concerns or problems during this one thousand year reign of christ jesus ,lets hear what the bible has to say about the end of his thousand year reign.. rev.20:7-10 satan is to be let out of his prison {as if he hasn`t done enough damage in 6000 years of roaming about in the earth at the same time fraternizing with jesus and jehovah in heaven} i digress.. and the reason he is let out of prison ,lo and behold ,is to mislead those nations in the four corners of the earth gog and magog to gather them together for the war.

{ here we go again ,armageddon didn`t solve anything we have to go through another one.

} 1000 years later.. now get this it`s not just some isolated little skirmish with a few hundred or even a few thousand dissenters ,as the bible states they number the sands of the seashore and they advanced over the breadth of the earth and encircled the camp {not a nation but a camp} of the holy ones.and the beloved city.. with that description it would seem the holy ones are in the minority and the opposes apparently were spread over all the earth.. so that description of the bible to me about jc 1000 rule does not appear to be one of living in a paradise , that is not on the agenda until after jesus christ 1000 year reign and only if you are lucky enough to survive another test/war of your loyalty after all you have gone through previously.. i wonder if this realization is one of the reasons why so many now are claiming to be of the anointed because as one of the other sheep you have to pass another test after the 1000 years of christ jesus rule whereas of one of the anointed on death now you go straight to heaven ..

I've no doubt the little darlings all assume they will be the ones safely tucked in the little camp, whilst those dissenters will no doubt be the 20 billion ( I think some expert once estimated) resurrected ones, the sum total who had lived before Armageddon, since they missed it first time around!!

Lloyd Evans would be more tolerable if he just sat still on his seat when he's talking to the camera.

OMG I thought I was the only one to notice but it literally drives me crazy!!!

I think it is excess of nervous energy as I know it seems worse during his intro -when he literally jerks with every syllable - it seems to lessen as the vlog continues, particularly when he relaxes into conversation on, say, "Watchtower in Focus," which is my absolute favourite exjw vlog, it really is excellent.

I daren't say anything about this distracting jerking because he is so sensitive to criticism. I don't want to rub him the wrong way over such a minor issue, and, in fact, there are several professional current affairs presenters who do just that, so he's not alone.

Wonder if he knows?
