JP-y Puh-leeze!
There is no such things as "The Voice" of the ex-JW community. That's laughable. Leave one cult and join another.
I was using air quotes so you knew I was being facetious.
Actually more toward journalists who seem to want a 'prominenten'( as they called them in Auchwitz) as they seem constitutionally incapable of asking anyone who isn't published.
Pretty certain this is behind Cedars 'How to leave exjw' pamphlet as it's sure not money or altruism. He obviously wants a way into a career in the media. Not that there is anything wrong in that but don't dress it up as humanitarian.
But if there is anyone that could be a candidate for speaking clearly, calmly and articulately about our post-cult issues, I'd vote for Paul Grundy
Well that goes without saying, which is exactly why the lawyers at the ARC used him as their advisor of sorts.
Like elders, those who don't push themselves forward are always the most genuine.

The broken kite Asks how he can separate out all this stuff, being fairly new to the scene.
There seems to be a battle at the moment as to who is going to be ' the 'voice' of the exjw community. An exitting handbook will go some way toward being that voice...you know, the one the press will call on should Watchtower be in the news.
Yup. so much for altruism.
(The Great Apostate has got in the game early and released one the other day, by the way.)
Lloyd has had his fair share of uncalled for abuse thrown his way, as you have gathered, by people who are not the nicest bunch.
But.... he responded, and this is where Lloyd let himself down badly, by doing the following. Marc and Cora were about to be interviewed regarding a Watchtower related issue. Lloyd ensured they were not given the chance by ringing the journalist in question and telling them Marc and Cora were an unreliable source. Stinks, huh?
On the other hand the sexual predator rumours began with an issue between Mike, Kim and their daughter ( a young adult at the time).
So there you have it. Bit of a slimeball? Sure. Peadophile? Not a chance.

broken kite Does the book hint at how old Lloyd may have been when this happened? Obviously, he was old enough to marry
Hi brokenkite!!
I think the age jw's marry is relevent to this discussion, as you brought out. Lloyd talks about behaving like " a married man", but I would suggest "a married boy" would actually be more appropriate.
He was probably early twenties at the latest and yes, kids that age are girls and would describe themselves as such, unless they are particularly politically and socially aware ( I actually knew some feminist separatists in the 80s who called themselves "wimmin" at that age, but this is a rare level of awareness).
We need to seperate out gossip from a persons verifiable actions or our concerns won't be listened to.
I just feel because exitting jw's can be so vulnerable to hero worship, they need to know their stories are worth so much more than a name check at the back of an ambitious you tubers pamphlet.
hi folks:.
grab these for your archives while the link is still active.
these are in addition to the ones i released a few years back.
Atlantis may I ask are you Canadian?
( I echo the words of Marcial, we are all grateful for your years of hard work for us all)
i just realized that i was 39 years old when i joined this discussion board.
i remember the morning conversations that always brought me laughter, and i think there were only a but about 9 or 10 regulars back then!
i will now turn 57 years old in a few months.
Snuggle bunny I enjoyed that!
Somebody, I'd love to hear some more about the early days on this board, or Simon. ..tell us more!
so the guy in my office on the desk next to me has just got back from the funeral of his wifes sister.
this was his first time in a kh and full on exposure to jwdom.. bit of background: the deceased jw was not a born in, she was a convert when she was in her teens.
she died last week at the age of 82. the poor old dear was still zealously knocking on doors while in ill health.
Anyway, so my colleague tells me, her will stated that she be buried rather than cremated due to "the resurrection".
Perhaps someone told her on the doors that without an immortal soul her resurrected body is just a clone of her!
Either way it's her own idiosyncracy as don't think jw's teach that.
something just dawned on me today as i processed my assimilation into the real world (thanks to our new poster, @jester, giving me a major throwback to my first post).. when you're a jehovah's witness, you really are in some sort of la la land.
things which are perfectly normal are acts of eating from the table of the demons.
things which are horribly grotesque and extremely unjust are branded as "righteousness".
Jo Ho Bloody brilliant post, as usual.
JW Privilege:It's meant to encourage humility but all it does is strengthen the power of the slave master; Watchtower, and turn us into a bunch of " Uncle Toms"

Paley I always likened it to North Korea. Even haircuts are monitored.
I found out North Korea, outsource some of their prisons to Russia, POLAND, Cuba, but they are worried any prisoners will escape to the west or South Korea. To be sent to an outsourced prison you must fit some criteria the main one being married with children etc because they hold them hostage, you can't take your family with you.
Watchtower really is like North Korea as they too hold your family hostage
i googled it and pretty much my understanding is the same as what i imagine.
no one really knows, your guess is as good as the next.
interesting thought to consider imo..
Just thought I'd let you know something I found of interest.
Its just that that crucifixion was used by the Romans not just because of the pain involved, but because it was their practice to leave the body up on the cross to rot and for the animals to pick at, Jewish or not.
Not only that, but what we know about Pontius Pilate it's extremely unlikely he would be compassionate enough to let someone take any body down, let alone that of a Jew. He had cared nothing about the people he ruled or their sensibilities.
Its likely Jesus body was never buried and therefore the story of the disappearance of the body is false.
