Thanks for the scriptures but I'm not talking about the resurrection nor what the scriptures actually teach. I was talking about being relieved that there will be no great tribulation(as depicted by WTS), hence no torture, even if it means that you will die one day. A lot of ex-jws are troubled when they realize they will die but I feel more relief than anything. I'd rather die of old age than go through the great tribulation and I wondered if anyone else felt that way.

I always thought that I was more worried about it than other jws and that I would end up renouncing my faith to get out of it. And I've heard that a lot of people who realize the WTS scam have problems coming to terms with their own mortality. But I feel like I had immediate relief. I realized I would die one day and I actually prefer that over the GT and armageddon. Even though I don't know what to expect after death, I don't know whether or not there will be an afterlife, I'm okay with not knowing and I don't fear it. Of coarse, I don't want to die right now. But I'm okay with living my life till I grow old and then dying. I no longer worry about having someone rip my nails off or poke my eyes out or drown me or anything else that someone could do to inflict pain on me. Does anybody else feel this way?

ill try to be brief, prob could do a whole topic on each point.. i was born a jw, one of 7 kids.
my mum ruled house with iron fist (whole story just there) we were the perfect jw family, never missed fs or meetings all baptised at magic age of 14, all pioneered.

one thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.
yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".
kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.
I was 17. Just under the age requirement to be able to sign a contract in USA. Too bad I can't get that contract nullified.

it is such a relief to know that all of us 'apostates' are normal people who had the nerve to question what has been crammed down our throats.. i am 4th generation ex-jw with family members at bethel, doing missionary work, and pioneering.
even though i have been out for almost 20+ years, i still had guilt admitting to myself that this was a cult-like organization until just recently.

we had a few that would start coughing if someone wore a fragrance.
they would make a big deal about anyone wearing cologne and say such ones were not loving and considerate.
some elders would recommend that witnesses should not wear any cologne or perfume, if they loved their brother or sister.
Undercover: "Open mind - use Axe body spray. According to the TV commercials (which never lie) it's supposed to make you irresistable to all hot babes within your scent."
I don't know about the body spray but the axe body wash attracts cats.
Back to the topic. There was a sister in my old hall who couldn't go to the meetings because she would get sick. She was sensitive to everything. I went in service with her one day and took a potty break. The soap that I washed my hands with made her sick for two weeks. Everyone felt bad that she couldn't go to the meetings so the elders arranged a new fragrance free bookstudy group. But it was all voluntary. Me and my mom went to support her.

i always felt like i was not a "spiritual" person because i loathed going in field service.
i'm not even sure why i loathed it.
i am very outgoing and can talk to anyone, anytime, about anything.
I enjoyed the time spend with "friends." But as for going to the doors, I hated it. I never knew how to respond to certain comments such as, "We're lesbians here" or "I'm a Satanist." People always said things like that to me. Even when I was pioneering I never felt adequate enough and I always went out with my mom so that she could take over when something like that happened.
been away from the wts for 13 years and noticed at jwn many are mentioning its now okay for jw's to lie, if....... its for the right reasons.
like misleading the jw's and worldy people about district convention parking.
to raise monies for the wts.

You're right. It is wrong. I was using sarcasm. Maybe I should have noted that in my above post. People usually don't understand when I use sarcasm. I guess I'm not doing it right.
