Hello..this is my story..
by Lozhasleft ini'm pleased to have found this site...i've browsed a little ...read quite a lot and gasped at some stories, giggled at the one liners and nodded in recognition of others' strong opinions and can relate to a great deal.. i'll try and keep my intro as brief as possible for anyone kind enough to listen.. i got involved with the witnesses in the late 70's in the uk.
i was in my early 20s and had had a love and fascination for the bible since my difficult childhood.
i soon brought my life into 'line' although it took a long time for me to pack up the smoking which didnt go down well in those days when 6 months of study should have been enough and if you hadnt cracked it then it was suggested that you were some kind of loser.... i reared my 4 children in the 'truth' as well as i could but i cant claim that we were a 'strong' family in their terms...just muddled along really..my husband at the time was a very difficult and abusive man and home life wasnt easy for any of us with his anger, jealousy and violence.

I hope I'm not the ONLY one...
by YoursChelbie inis there anyone besides me who would like to get a group together for dinner, maybe at a local tgi fridays?.
there's some faces i would really like to meet again.. i don't think that here in the dallas/north texas area, we've had a gathering in a while.. so if you have any suggestions for a particular day?
we could see when it would be convenient for most people.

My calendar shows June 18th to be Friday. Saturday would be June 19th. I'm pretty flexible.

V's memorial teaser - its time to get busy with your email campaigns :-)
by besty inthey had better wine glasses at this hall, but otherwise everything was the same.
we had one at our hall last year.
so the people in the side rows get to hold the wine glass twice.

I enjoyed reading your experience. I never thought about how pointless it was to pass the emblems if no one is going to partake.

That's interesting blondie.
I will be going with my husband this year to keep peace in the family. But we're going to the spanish memorial at his mom's congregation. I don't understand spanish so I'll be extra bored at this year's memorial.

Sixscreensofthewatchtower
by Piercingtheveil81 ini was just reading an email from rick fearon about the conference call this saturday.
i'm starting to think that some things they say are a bunch of crap.
they seem too stuck in the past and can;t seem to let go.

I have to agree with the creepy factor. When I was first looking to see what information about jws was on the internet six screens was one of the first sites I found. At the time I was still a believing jw and this site scared me. Especially the page about occult teachings. The music is so scary. I immediately left the website because I thought demons would come into my home. I felt so ashamed and guilty that I went to an apostate website. It took me a few days to get over it and eventually my curiosity overtook and I found jwfacts.

A question about love bombing
by doublelife inmost of us on here know that love bombing is a cult trait and many on here have said that they experienced it at the kingdom hall.
this might be a stupid question but maybe because i'm a born in the behavior seems normal to me and i don't notice it.
but how is it different than going to any other church where people introduce themselves to you?

dissed, 'we love you until we know you well enough to gossip about you.' Lol. That's the perfect discription of what it's like being at the kingdom hall.

BorgHater, your experience of being at the other church was interesting. I guess the reason I find the love bombing hard to see is because, from what you describe, I never participated in it. I've always been very quit by nature so when a new one came to the hall I usually didn't even meet them. When I did I just introduced myself and that was it. I always felt bad about that. Like I wasn't spiritual enough because I didn't go out of my way to welcome people. I only met them if someone else introduced me to them. Now that I know what it really was I don't feel bad.
SnakesInTheTower, what you describe I've definitely seen and experienced myself. I never realized it was love boming. I thought that was only something use on new people, not current members.
rockmehardplace, I have seen other people do that to bible studies.
Now that I look back, when I left my home cong and moved to my new cong after getting married, everyone was so happy to see me. Once my meeting attendence became irregular the attention slowed down. I didn't even realize that that's what was happening.
