I like everyone's experiences. I haven't been on the board in a couple of days because I've been faxing resumes to people.
cult classic: "it is embarrassing" Exactly. I've never had problems getting hired either but it's still embarrassing to put it on there.

How I obtained my personal files from Bethel
by jwfacts init has taken me a long time, but i have finally put together an article outlining how i used the law to force bethel to send me my personal files.
it is a very long article full of scans, so i have linked to it at http://jwfacts.com/watchtower/experiences/personal-files-privacy-act-1988.php.
in brief, in 2006 i requested that bethel send me my files on the basis that the australian privacy act 1988 entitles people to receive a copy of any information a corporation holds about them.

Thanks for all the input. I didn't realize I could still keep it on my resume. I just don't want to advertise that I use to be a jw. I think I'll use mindmelda's method and put public speaking instead of bible instructor.
dgp: "How are you doing, Doublelife?" I guess I'm okay, just frustrated. I'm trying to figure out a way to become financially independent from my husband so I can start living my life. I asked my boss for full-time hours but I don't think it'll get approved. All the doctors at my job are getting nervous because we haven't been getting as many new patient appointments as they're used to. I'm off work tomorrow and I'm going to get the phone book out and start calling other doctor's offices to see if anyone is hiring for full-time work.

Doesn't an 'allegorical' Garden of Eden nullify the need for a Ransom?
by AK - Jeff ini have noted in the past few months or years that christians, when faced the nearly insurmountable evidence that the garden of eden events are improbable if not impossible [i refer to fossil evidence that supports hominid existence on this planet perhaps millions of years ago, as example] to overcome, that the 'fall back' position is often that the garden of eden account is just allegory, not literal.. but it occurs to me that if it is just allegorical, then there is no specific event to mark the 'fall of man' and 'original sin'.
without that, what purpose is served with the idea of a 'ransom' in which 'the last adam' overcomes the sin of adam in the garden.
why would nt writers refer to the events as if literal if they are just allegory?

Thanks for posting this topic. This is what finally gave me the courage to accept that I'm not a christian. I accepted fast that I was in a cult and didn't have a hard time letting go of jw beliefs. But, it took me several months to let go of christianity even though I had doubts. It was scary for me because I didn't want to oppose God. Once I accepted the garden of eden as allegorical, I naturally realized that there is no original sin and no need for a ransom. The truth has set me free.
