Are JWs discouraged from seeking mental help?
by Kristina1972 inmy husband was raised in this religion, but was never baptized and does not go to meetings, although my mil is heavily involved.
although my husband doesn't practice his religion, he believes it is the truth and i hate asking him questions, because he is very defensive of the religion.
he and his mother, many years ago before i knew either of them, were treated for severe depression and hospitalized (at different times as a result of them going through divorces.

Yes unless they are seeking it from the elders or the organization publications. I guess they are allowed to take self help drugs though

Who actually decides that a person is chosen by God to be an elder?
by brainwashed-from-birth inis there an interview?
what sort of things do they look at, or expect out of the person?
besides being a man.

CREEPY. I wonder if the the "secretly gay" elders recommend other guys due to shoe size, or how their ass shakes when they take that mic up and down the iles?
Good OL Boys Club.....I hear the Deliverance music.

I did not know that they came to you with an offer. I thought you had to apply. That is interesting infomation. Is that correct? Did they come to my Dad with that non-sense or did my Dad have to show interest?

I want to be appointed as an Elder while I am still posting here, will Holy Spirit prevent me?
by african GB Member injust curious.. has anyone successfully tested the 'power' of the holy spirit by being appointed even though they were not zealous jw's?.
once i get appointed, i'd resign within a week.
'coz i would'nt stand jc's and df'ing people..

What do you have to go thru to become an elder? If it is alot of work I dont see the point. The only thing it may do is prove to you that the Holy Spirit doesn't exist, or doesn't give a shit if you are an elder in a stupid religion Let me know how it goes.

Is there an interview? What sort of things do they look at, or expect out of the person? Besides being a Man. Any criminal/background checks? Do they have to report the person's information to the Govern Body to get the ultimate O.K.? My dad is an elder and he is far from a leader. He takes several medications just to be strong enough to go to the meetings and "service". He is so depressed he can't sleep without Xanax. Yet he is "leading the flock". He can't even lead himself. I doubt if he would someone God would chose, and I bet there are a whole lot of crazies giving advice in elder positions. Just curious. My dad's answer was that God choses his elders, but now that I am not blind and crazy anymore I want facts not SciFI/Bible answers.

Unfortunately you can not fight with someone who is "NOT WRONG". when she can use cult control words like "truth" and "faith". what can you do?
I do know you will never get those two hours back. Try to avoid the subject, or find someone that is not obsesssed with fantasy. I am so ashamed I used to buy all that garbage JW beliefs. She is only fighting with you cuz she thinks you are going to die literally.

What is "being in love"?
by highdose ini don't think i've ever been in love, and have no idea what it is or what it is like?.
is it somthing fictional or real?.
-
brainwashed-from-birth
I dont think you can have true love unless you know how to forgive 100%. And forgiving 100% means you will probably be getting treated like a door mat sometimes. Grudges and deciet kill trust and then love..... and that is usually what happens in this selfish time in history.
I have always found that people love me until I decide I don't want to do or think what they want. The older I get the more I think the only one that deserves my love is my dog

I like this site and i know we are all at different levels of healing the JW influence. I don't spend a whole lot of time on here, and I feel sorry for the people on here for years that still feel the need to hate on the JW doctrine. I mean we all think it is bunk, but it is important to move on with your life. I am NOT ONE OF JEHOVAH"S WITNESSES anymore!!!!!! They will not control me and i could give a crap what they believe or don't believe. I do like to try and help those who are hurting from the expierence. I know from personal that it hurts really bad and is hard to get over. That is why I looked for a site like this in the first place.
Have a great day...
