DVD "JW's Faith In Action, part 1 Out of Darkness" Omits! Omits! Omits!
by Wasanelder Once ini've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.
i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.
you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

THIS GENERATION - again! Who belongs to "This Generation"?
by Titus inwhat about dan sydlik and henschel milton, for example?.
they were born in 1919 and 1920 (after 1914), and both died before the "great tribulation".. .
the definition of wt says:.

"Dan Sydlik and Henschel Milton don't fit into the new generation doctrine at all. They didn't see 1914 and they didn't survive until the Great Tribulation."
Dan Sydlik and Milton Henschel are part of this generation, but they are not part of those who will be at hand at Armageddon. According to the current understanding, some of the annointed whose lives overlap with annointed who were at hand in 1914 will survive the great tribulation.
I'm not sure whether it's about annointed ones receiving their calling by 1992 or born before that date. Since according to w10 4/15 it's the "lives" that overlap (some translated editions don't use the word "lives", but "are contemporaries of"), it seems logical that babies born by 1992 and due to receive their heavenly calling in the future might be considered as making part of "this generation". I'll ask an elder to confirm.

A friend of mine, who's a ministerial servant in a Hungarian congregation meeting in our Hall, sent me the audio recording of the talk. The speaker based his introduction on David Walker's life story.—Awake!, December 8, 1985, page 4.

2010 Convention Rumor
by Hikaru inum... a witness sent me this in an email.
it's going around as the rumored program, but there's no proof.. if it is real though...is very last one symbolic?
or is it literal?

@Hikaru: actually the "Chairman's Address" and the talk entitled "Conventions Help Us Stay Close to Jehovah" are two separate talks. The former is the introductory talk and welcome note by the convention chairman. The latter is a common feature of conventions which contains interviews with certain publishers about how they benefited from talks presented in previous district conventions.
Yes, the June issue of the Awake! magazine has been around for almost two weeks on jw.org; that's where this information comes from.
@wobble: i guess the 'Technology' part will refer to internet (IM, social networking, 'apostate' websites etc.), texting, excessive usage of electronic devices as in means of distracting the brothers from fully accomplishing their ministry. As you might remember (it has been mentioned in a thread around here), at the circuit assembly there was a talk where the speaker shed a negative light on social networking platforms (Facebook, hi5).

WTS publication: Mankind's Search for God
by Gorbatchov infriends,.
at the end of the 80's the wts published "mankind's search for god", about the global mainstream religion's.. what's your opinion about this publication?.
i think it was written for use on the weekly bookstudy, there were questions for all paragraphs.. after the publication it was never used at the bookstudy, and it was only rarely used in the congregation.. .

Actually the book was released during the 1990 District Convention. In my opinion it's pretty well documented, mostly factual about the various religions. I believe the Society published the book so that the Witnesses may have a reference work about the world's religions published by the "faithful and discreet slave" class so they wouldn't have to browse material that might pose a threat to their faith.
The presence of study questions does not necessary mean that the book is intended for the Congregation Book Study, it means that the Governing Body recommends the book to be studied. That can also be the personal study or a part of family worship.
Although the book is still being offered sometimes in the ministry and has been reprinted with the new, 4-color soft cover (but no end-sheets with the maps), the book hasn't been released in certain languages. For example, the Witnesses in Romania don't have their own translation of the book and I don't think the Society will ever (in the near future) consider translating it into Romanian.

What does BCE mean?
by highdose inis this somthing made up by the wbst?
or does it actauly mean somthing?.
-
Caminante
During the Communist regime most reference works published in the Central and Eastern part of Europe consistently used BCE and CE when refering to dates. Since the abolition of Communism, most Romanian authors suddenly started to be proud of their Orthodox Christian religion and began using BC and AD.

If we go by the recent figures, I guess it will surpass 10,000. (Taking into account that in 2007/2008 there were 9,986, and in 2006/2007 there were 9,105)
