How to (or not) handle the occasional JW who wanders in here
by Check_Your_Premises ini originally thought of posting this thread last week when a thread was started last week: .
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/104099/1.ashx .
this girl didn't seem to realize the extent of the "apostasy" on this thread.

What kind of atheist are you?
by Narkissos inchief rabbi leon ashkenazi said: "the difference between an atheist christian and an atheist jew is that an atheist christian does not believe that god exists, while an atheist jew believes that god does not exist.".
i'm not so sure about the jewish-christian borderline, but i love the nuance.. so which sentence suits you better?.
"i don't believe that god exists.".

The spelling fairy says: It's 'atheist', not 'athiest'
by Apognophos inatheists are people who are "a-" (without) "theism" (a belief in god).
they are not "athiests"; they are not "athier" than everyone else, nor is "athy" a word.. .
this isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but it's a mistake i see every day on here and i thought it might be nice to have a topic we can bump just to periodically remind people of the proper spelling, especially since they are sometimes referring to their very own beliefs.

What is spirit, exactly?
by Viviane ini've always wondered that.
recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.
cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?

There used to be an anology that it was like electricity, I say if it shorts out then "god" is dead.

"Dubs For Dummies"
by Farkel indear brothers and sisters in the worldwide brotherhood of jehovahs witnessestm,.
there has been much public interest in our beliefs lately, so we have prepared a very brief summary of our core beliefs in a new pamphlet which you may offer to interested persons.
hopefully, this pamphlet will generate enough interest with honest-hearted people and enable you to start many new bible studies.

Farkel is a liar and a cheat!
by seven006 ini have absolutely had it with farkel's lies and (try new kiddy bathroom bubbles only $3.95 per bottle) his childish attempts to discredit those who still believe in god.
he is relentless in his (now the one pound tub of the famous amway laundry detergent only 19.95) efforts to shove atheism down our throats.
i personally am offended by (new amway energy bars in four tasty flavors, box of 12 only $6.95) his blatantly cynical attitude and slamming dialog.. i think his account should be (summers coming, try amway car wax and make your old car look new)!

By taking a transfusion they still say that you are no longer a witness,,,,, you dissociate yourself. Till I read it in their publications I don't believe it.

Staying Awake Or Keeping In A Frenzy?
by AlanF inwe ex-jws know very well how much the watchtower society put us under pressure to believe that "armageddon is just around the corner".
they've been doing it in one form or another ever since charles taze russell began publishing his nonsense.
in 1877 he advocated that true christians should believe that christ would "take them home" in 1878. when that didn't happen he moved the event up to 1881. after that he focused on 1914.. the society is still doing pretty much the same thing, building up expectations and then revising them, decade after decade.

I wish Alan F would return in this centennial year to give us his take on the current events in lalaland. One of my siblings still is a true believer. I would like to send a zinger their way. They are at the International Assmbly in Seattle as we speak.
