  for all the philatelists among us, i sure hope the brooklyn-based world government-in-waiting is preparing a commemorative stamp issue to honor the imminent centernary of our lord's presence.

  maybe one stamp for each of the detainees in atlanta, capped off by a high-value airmail stamp depicting the rapture that never was?

  seriously, how many of you folks out there collect stamps?

  Questions concerning Deng Xiaoping

  on another thread band on the run requested that i answer certain questions she put to me concerning deng xiaoping.

  i requested another thread for that, one wasn't started so i start it myself.. i see the questions are reasonable, at least for someone who (admittedly) claims to know little about china, and i have no issues about answering them.

  like all humans deng xiaoping, is a mix of good things and not so good things.. in telling deng's story, i have no wish to distort history, i see no reason to tell "outright lies about the past, or to omit facts that may lead to unacceptable conclusions or to gloss over anything with a quiet, slight admission that is buried by some other detail.

  sorry this is so long, but here is a series of e-mails i sent to the jehovah's witnesses united site and their response.

  it has to do with the nwt inserting the word [other]in col 1:16,17 and phil 2:9. pick it apart as you may.

  you may need an hour or two to read all of it.. (my original e-mail).

  Mind you, from that point it was a simple jump to atheism.

  Trouble getting password

  i tried to log on with a different computer than usual but i couldn't remember my password.. i attempted to use the "forget password" feature.. it said that it emailed me my password but i never received it.. i disabled my email's spam filter and tried several times but the password still hasn't arrived.. is anyone else having this problem?.

  It's my birthday today

  ... but most of my new (post jw) friends either don't know my birth date (if people don't specifically ask i won't tell them), or they are 2500 kilometers away in the netherlands... so all that's left to celebrate with me are my hubby, the two doggies, cat and my two rabbits... mixed feelings, i miss my friends and family around and haven't found friends in spain yet.

  luckily our daughter will visit us the end of the month... and yesterday we've found a new rental house and we're moving into it next month already!

  i'm thrilled and really looking forward to it, then we will finally be able to let all the rest of our belongings come to spain (2/3 of our stuff is stored in the netherlands).. so with this in mind, i'll just say 'happy birthday to me' and will enjoy my third birthday in espana .

  the blood of patients who recover from ebola should be used to treat others, the world health organization has announced.. west africa is facing the largest ebola outbreak in history and more than 2,000 people have died.. a global group of experts have been meeting to assess the experimental therapies that could contain ebola.. the who also announced that ebola vaccines could be used on the frontline by november.. blood medicine.

  people produce antibodies in the blood in an attempt to fight off an ebola infection.. in theory, those antibodies can be transferred from a survivor into a sick patient to give their immune system a boost.. however, large scale data on the effectiveness of the therapy is lacking.. studies on the 1995 outbreak of ebola in democratic republic of congo showed seven out of eight people survived after being given the therapy.. dr marie paule kieny, an assistant director general at who said: "we agreed that whole blood therapies may be used to treat ebola virus and all efforts must be invested to help infected countries to use them.. "there is a real opportunity that a blood-derived product can be used now and this can be very effective in terms of treating patients.".

  Is there a list of JW contradictions / double standards anywhere?

  as i mentioned in a recent thread, i've relatively new here.

  have been lurking for a few weeks and just started posting.. one of the things i'm finding interesting about this site is how often someone posts a set of jw published material that contradicts each other.

  for example the other day someone posted about lecithin.
