Bumping this for anyone new and thinking they are alone in discovering something rotten in the Kingdom Hall. It's not you, it really stinks.
The responses are great and some of the older members are no longer with us (I really miss Farkel)
i've been lurking about, checking out some of the evidence against the wtbs.
i am currently inactive but still an approved/baptized member.
i have seen all the 1914/607bce evidence; the blood transfusion quandry evidence; the current child abuse problem evidence and several other things that are damning to the wt doctrines.

Thanks Simon,
I may try the custom settings in Chrome or dig out my laptop and see how it goes. I like to dig in the archives and sometimes it helps to identify old posts (I love the fact that we have nearly 20 years to dig through.)

who has been out of the cult the longest ?.
i'll start--i resigned in 1971, but attended occasionally as a non-interested husband to keep the wife sweet, untill my last circuit assembly in autumn 1980. no connection with the cult since then.
so--its either 47 or 38 years, depending on how you see it.. which begs the question--why am i on this site now ?.
Giordano wins so far.
I graduated high school 1965 and was never dunked. I escaped the next year ( went to stay with relatives) for training at community college. I still have family who talk with me, a couple of siblings are still in and one out but still a believer. I love this place; it helps me keep things in perspective.
me too, i had to have a study with a jw.
then, a month or two later, another one of my ‘worldly’ mates (dan) asked me “are you going out with emma?” i told him no.
dan had also asked rob himself and rob had said that he wasn’t involved with emma.
Congratulations on your escape. What a wonderful thing that you have no family in!
What field is your masters in?
here you are.
i will use these and the ones unused from the last thread to make a fun with covers 19. .

I don't know how to do this but it needs to be bumped!
types of witnesses.
1. religious witness.
these are usually converts and seldom stay.
as kid i remember a break of 15 minutes between the public talk and the wt study.
all the new ones and "weak" ones ran out to smoke.
loved to see the attendant round them up to come back in when the droning began again.
I remember the break, some of the kids would run across the street to the convenience store for candy as someone described earlier.
I don't remember the changeover to reading the WT before the question so assume it was in the late 60's or early 70s. As soon as I graduated high school and left home I was only to a hall for a wedding or funeral.
tonight on the evening of april 18, 2011, observant jews worldwide will celebrate passover seder, a night "different from all other nights".
the watchtower society annually schedules the memorial for jehovah's witnesses on a date that is supposed to coincide with the jewish observance of passover, as it would have been reckoned during second temple times (in particular, in the first century ad during the life of jesus).
this year the memorial was observed last night, the evening of april 17. the two religious observances are thus a day out of synth, at least this year.
Time for a bump!
