I have no idea why that posted a jillion times, btw. Software bug?
Edit: Nevermind, fixed.
you know, to fit in....to be a part of our own family or group and not be a total nerd or contrarian.. we hold our tongue.
we smile and nod.. but, then....there is at least one thing we just can't go along with because it is too important.. why?
because we are a total snob.

@tornapart:
"You say 'erbs', and we say 'herbs'. Because there's a fucking 'h' in it." In our defense on worcestershire sauce, if you've never heard it pronounced, it's difficult to grasp by looking at the word how one could possibly come to the conclusion that it sounds like "wooshter".

Haha, well played. Let's say that I'm a snob about research, logic, and education on social issues - probably why I work in social justice/human rights. Being forced to turn down a college scholarship because I was a JW, and loving to read and research ever since I was a child, has turned me into something of an autodidact. So yeah, I'm very much a proponent of education, or self-education, and being well-informed.
If that's being an intellectual snob, I'm proud to be a snob. I never want to be the kind of person who can't articulate and support her position on an issue, or attacks the the tone of an argument or the person making it rather than the content. I grew up surrounded by those kind of people and the circular, emotion-based "logic" made my life hell.

Spelling and grammar.
Books and movies (voracious reader since I was two and worked a second job at Blockbuster Video for a couple years).
Clothing (I never shop retail. Thrift stores and vintage all the way. I cannot comprehend spending more than a few dollars on an item of clothing.)
i know it`s certainly not going to happen in our time or even our childrens ,childrens time , but surely eventually, it must come about.. religion , all religion has been nothing but a curse on this planet , and humans will never reach their full potential until they eradicate all forms of religion .. of course the theists will insist their have been great acheivments in science, astronomy, the arts etc.
,to a large part by the educated religionists of their day , however the masses were deprived of such education .if the masses had received the education of the priveledged few religous scholars ,we may well have been enjoying a new golden age of enlightenment already.. note : i am talking about all religions of the world not just xians ,judaism, muslim ,etc.
but all religious persuasions.. just my 2 cents worth.
In response to the OP, isn't it practically the case in Norway or somewhere in Europe already right now? And they recently did a survey in East Germany and couldn't find a single religious person under the age of 30 or something? (thinking off the top of my head, may be fuzzy on the numbers) So, given enough time, why not? However, if you're talking about the entire world, you're talking about a good few more centuries or eons, I should think, especially given the religious discord in areas such as the Middle East.
i adore this song, lol!.

come on, you know you love the little fuzzy people.
Well, it's Sesame Street and not The Muppet Show, but it's pretty impossible to beat the great Madeline Kahn:

i know others have posted on the original thread.
several people, including myself, would like to do something concrete to show our concerns re: his treatment by the jw, and how important he was to all of us here.
i suggested a handwritten note, on behalf of the whole community here, flowers, and perhaps a donation to a charity that helps people get back on their feet.
Perhaps send the sympathy cards/flowers to his sons' attention, but c/o the parents' address? That way the parents see the outpouring of support, but they can't toss the cards/flowers, but rather will have to pass them on to his boys - who hopefully can glean at least some comfort from them?
our friend, oompa, has passed away.
just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.
it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.
Also, if you get the guestbook option with the "In Memoriam" ad, I think they offer a way to keep it up on the web permanently (for an additional fee, of course, because grief is an industry, ugh.)

Someone posted the link to his Facebook account. There are several good photos there.
Shamus, here are the details:

Someone would have to write it, of course.

The newspaper obit FAQ says they will only print one obit and will only accept the order from one family member (I'm assuming the first family member to get around to it?) They will not print additional obits (though mourners may choose to publish an "In Memoriam" ad which I assume runs sort of in the same area of the paper, or something?
So, as far as I can tell from the site, a family member would have had to choose that freebie option. And they also chose not to include a "guestbook" (other obits there have them) where mourners may leave notes paying their respects.
