I've honestly never heard of that. I've had my email account since I first got online. I can't imagine changing email addresses. I have made one to use when you have to type in an address to see something online. That is the account that gets flooded with junkmail. So it usually just gets the 'select all' 'delete' treatment. But I have never considered getting rid of my email account that I made when I first got online..which actually wasn't long after I DA'd. Will probably still have that account 20 years from now.

Did anyone else ever play their record albums backwards?
by EmptyInside inokay, i'm dating myself, record albums and all that, but i remember as a kid in the 80's, everyone was playing their albums backwards looking for some hidden satanic message.
my older brothers got talked into throwing a couple of their moody blues albums away.
anyway, it was all the craze in my hall.

My parents did this. And I lost a lot of my favorite albums because of it:( I was so upset!

Sounds like an obsession to me. And yea I don't think it was a good idea for you to ask him to do something with you that second time. But bygones...At this point I would be letting your supervisor know exactly what is going on. Then I would tell him once more to leave me alone. Be blunt and forward with him. Make it very clear. And if that doesn't work, file a restraining order. Which will make his life difficult since you work in the same place. But that sounds really scary and I wouldn't play around with it if I were you. I've been in situations like that before and they can escalate pretty quickly. Good luck with it!

So frustrating that now that I am out of that cult and can actually donate blood, I am on medication that won't let me! Otherwise I'd do it. So for those of you that can, please do so for those of us that can't:(

"not a good example"
by LoriJis ini have a concern i guess or just want to vent.
my husband and i - as most of you know - we're married just a little under 2 months and you all know at that point i was still "active" in the org.
we had a few issues with our bridal party - namely the groom - cuz according to them he wasnt a good example and not in good status because they hadn't seen him at the meetings or in service for like 2 months.

Heh my cousin got married at her parents house. I still was not invited because I am DA'd. And yet my worldly aunt was invited, even though she used to attend meetings but was never baptized. Yes I knew stuff like this would happen when I wrote the letter to DA myself. It still made me angry. So give your husband a little slack. This religion is irritating and makes absolutely no sense. I've been out of it for ten years and there are still days that things happen that cause me to be angry due to their tactics.

Hello from me!
by Gonefullcircle inhello everyone.. after many months of lurking through my the worst time in my life and then not reading any posts since the website changed hands, i just wanted to say hello!.
all the stalwarts on here helped me so much through the worst times (born in, left when i was 34) i was too emotional to ever comment, but now i am ready to help others start to rebuild their worlds.. i just want to give all those doubters of that religion hope and help now that i have gone full circle- hence my user name.
there is lots to say, but i will join in and you will get to know me.. for anyone that is in turmoil with worry over whether to leave or not, i can empathise, but it will be the best decision you ever make!.

Hello Julie. I am rather new around here as well. But I have been out of the religion now for ten years. Was born and raised in it. Parents still claim to be apart of it although they do not attend. Leaving was the best thing I ever did. And coming on these forums is quite theraputic. Everyone seems to be quite nice here. And they talk about many different things, not just the cult we worked our way out of. So welcome to the forum! Look forward to chatting with you!

They "can give gifts on any day of the year"... But do they?
by Albert Einstein inhow many times we had heard from jw (commenting on christmass, mothers day or bithdays) "they dont need a pecial day set to give gifts, because the can give it on any day" .... but whats your experience if you compare jw and non jw ... are they really giving?.
my sons (7) example:.
he has non jw grandparents: gets all kinds of gifts all the time, sweets, magazines, toys,.

I never once actually got a wrapped present from my parents growing up. I would occasionally get toys and such. Especially as rewards for getting good grades in school or for doing a good job on a talk or some such. But a surprise wrapped up present? Never.

trueblue! They call that a redneck mocha? I had no idea it had a name! I started making my coffee that way when I was a teenager. No one taught me how to do it, I just decided one morning to try it and have been making my coffee that way ever since. I've added some stuff to it since then as well. I buy the caramel topping for ice cream and throw that into it, with some vanilla extract and some cream or milk...tastes as good as the stuff you can get at starbucks and is a lot cheaper.
