Yes, there is a God, so atheists are wrong. Now, we must worship Him in spirit and in truth (Jn. 4:24). Christianity is unique among religions because we claim that Jesus is God with a face, the God-Man, risen from the dead. Generic god, generic jesus would be an idol in comparison to the Living God of Scripture revealed in creation, Word, Christ. We need to move from atheism to theism to Christianity.

Stop and consider God
by StopTheTears inis there really a god?
is there really a divine creator or did the universe around us just "evolve?
" what an incredible thought to even imagine that there could be a supernatural being so powerful as to create a universe.

Facebook-Jehovah's Witnesses
by Lunatic Faith inso, i have been mysteriously added to a facebook page for jw's.
i didn't join and it is supposedly a closed group.
i went to their page and found a dozen others who were wondering how they became a part of a group they never joined.

I am on a Christian forum that welcomes atheists, JWs, Mormons, Muslims, agnostics, pagans, etc. We do not compromise our beliefs, but we affirm freedom of speech. I was surprised to see a JW forum that requires proof that one is a JW (need referral, etc.). I imagine they don't want to get spammed, but it also seems so closed and controlling to me. The WT has said that we have nothing to fear from examining our beliefs and being willing to change, but they obviously have a double standard and expect Catholics to do what they are not willing to allow their members to do (cult vs Christian difference).

Do Active Witnesses Find Meetings Exciting?
by Band on the Run inkh meetings were utter hell.
the boredom, particularly for a child, was awful.
i feel it was a form of child abuse.

I imagine there is a mystique that JWs are happy, holy, fearless at the doors, enthused with their religion, meetings, etc. The private reality is obviously different with immorality, lip service, confusion, doubt, fear, mental illness, stress, etc. (some vs all). The same issues can happen in any group that has imperfect people. Likewise, Mormons have a public, glossy image of happy families, committed missionaries, high moral standards, etc., yet Utah (mostly LDS) also has high divorce, suicide, alcoholism, abortion, etc. rates. We are all no better or worse than anyone, hence the need for the grace of God (Christians also have a high standard, but we have the resource of the indwelling Holy Spirit to live up to it, unlike false religions who have will power).

Hello
by Chariklo ini am new to this site, just finding my way around.. i've been studying with jw's for about 15 months.
i'm an unbaptised publisher, and until recently never missed a meeting, have been out "on the service" quite a lot.
i've been having difficulties with one of the jw's studying with me and something happened which was just unacceptable.

Many Catholics are nominal and biblically illiterate. JWs also attack the contra/extrabiblical beliefs of Catholics, as do I. Catholics do have a sound doctrine of God/Christology, so many do know and love Jesus, while others are merely ritualistic/religious. JWs come along seeming to know the Bible and attack the errors of Catholicism, so a person who realizes the Bible is truth and simplistic answers are given may get sucked in. They are actually further from the truth than when they were Catholics. The better choice is to find a Bible-believing church that honors Christ (vs cultic organizations like Mormon/JW/Christian Science, etc.).

It is a sin and shame to make the awesome Word of God boring!? For those who have rejected dead religion, know that there are people out there who are alive in Christ and their churches are full of the presence and joy of God. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater (not every Christian church or person is that great, granted).

The "WOW!!" moment...Theocratic Ministry School was a sham!
by Terry ini just remembered something from long ago..... i moved to california in 1974 after i had been in "the truth" for 11 years, having full-time pioneered and also having served time in federal prison over the so-called christian neutrality issue.. i felt completely confident that my bible education was the best on planet earth.
i had honed my skills by door to door preaching, discussion, arguments and attendance at the theocratic ministry school.. i began working as an artist in a huge company that manufactured all kinds of art, sculpture and wall hanging.
the head of the artists was a wonderful young man, skilled artist and devout christian who took me under his wing.

I find it odd that the GB relies on Christendom's scholars and commentaries at Bethel (misquotes them selectively), yet the average JW is not allowed to do first hand research. They have an indoctrination school that is simplistic based on comparatively uneducated researchers (they DF one of their better thinkers, Raymond Franz). It is also odd that they despise higher education, theological schools, seminaries, that put out equipped, godly leaders who can translate and exegete from the original languages, have historical perspective with Church history, sound grounding in theology, etc. Not many average Witnesses can truly defend anything outside of what WT has given them (often not understanding the thinking/research).

There are also horror stories of children at conventions being too hot, thirsty, etc. Most churches have the wisdom to teach children/teens in their peer groups at their levels. How do we challenge University educated people if we are giving them simplistic Sunday School lessons all of the time (I take it there are no children/youth ministries in the KH?).
I just came back from a small group study where we are walking through Daniel chapter by chapter with applications by way of principle to us. The Spirit gives us wisdom and it is relational, dynamic, fun, practical, informative, etc., all without WT aids or the same thing being taught all over the country, regardless of local or individual needs and differences.

The Christian Onslaught
by satinka in*sigh* i have been noticing lately there are a number of groups of "christians" signing up as members of this forum, with the obvious agenda of gaining converts for their own cult-like religions.
i have been wondering things like:.
hmmm...maybe i'll try ignoring them.. thank you simon for the space to vent.. satinka.

poopsie cannot differentiate true vs false Christians. Snowbird and waterspout cannot both be Christians if they have opposite views on the founder, Jesus Christ (Creator vs creature).

What say you Christians ???
by wobble init seems to me that most, if not all christians are really hung up on sin and redemption from sin and how naturally evil we all are.. my question, and observation is this : i had nothing to do with whatever you say adam and eve did wrong, i have always, throughout my life, treated whoever i came into contact with compassion, respect and love.. i have lived by the golden rule.. not many people, hand on heart, can say that, i can.. so, is your god going to judge me for the "sin" of some mythical forebears of mine ?
is he going to say that , because i did not believe in him, i willl be judged adversely, even though i lived by the precepts he is supposed to support ?.
all i can say is, if your god is like that, i refuse to worship or acknowledge him.. and i certainly do not want to get to know him.

Adam's sin was the occasion of sin entering the race leading to physical depravity that affects us all. Our sin, following in his footsteps, is the occasion of sin entering our life, moral depravity (we are not born gay or born sinners; they are moral, volitional issues). Note the phrase....'for all have sinned'. We are not responsible for Adam or Hitler's sin, just our own. Following your interpretation on this, universalism would be true (Christ died, so all are saved...nope).

WT answers are formulaic, simplistic, wrong. They prey on those with biblical ignorance. Don't assume that God sent the JWs to you or that Satan is trying to pull you away from them. In fact, Satan is more likely to have sent them and God is the one saying to run away.
