National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write 50,000 words in thirty days. I made it two years ago, not last year. We'll see this year. My working title is "Armageddon's Prisoners." I've made up a fictitious apocalyptic religion, this book is about the members struggling in the aftermath of a failed prophecy. It's a prequel to the one I hammered out two years ago (and still hope to publish). I've been struggling with a rewrite and basically decided to turn all my notes on characters and back story into a book of their own.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing. My wife and I met him a number of years ago at a support group for xjw's. He was fearless in his opposition to the Watchtower and had an encyclopedia full of what was wrong with the organization in his head.

My mother with Jose Carreras. Picture taken about a month ago, at her 90th birthday party. She's a huge Opera fan and the two of them have been working together on a foundation he started after he was treated here for cancer.

Important Supreme Court Case on Monday
by Hortensia inhttp://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/10/a-supreme-court-clash-could-change-what-ownership-means/.
could bring down ebay, and the selling of used books on amazon, and reselling goods on other sites.
book publishers who sell their textbooks for astronomical prices in the u.s. but much cheaper in other countries are suing entrepreneurs who import the cheaper but identical books and sell them for less.. at issue is whether you own the stuff you buy.

Thank you Beks. Contrary to what many people think writing doesn't pay very well. I've been trying to get published since 2001 (and I worked on the project part time for several years before that). Last year, for the first time I made some money as a writer: all of $875.
As an author, I am very concerned about the marketability of my product. And let's keep something in mind, this isn't a college kid who wants to sell a book he doesn't plan on needing again, ever. This is a businessman importing products that were intended for a foreign market. Ask yourself this question: is book publishing another industry you want the US to ship overseas? I don't know quite how I want this to go, I'm glad SCOTUS is going to take its time.

scale models. I've recently completed USS Washington and USS Hornet (with the Doolittle raid embarked). I just started working on HIJMS Kongo, sister ship to Kirashima which was sunk by Washington off Guadalcanal in 1942. All three are in 1/700. I have several others on my wish list.

Thank you for your support and kind words. You guys are family. I want to write a longer message, I may do it tomorrow; I'm burned out just now. Mom was interviewed by the Washington Post this morning. When the article shows up I'll post a link.
Again I appreciate everything. -

My father passed around 9 this morning. He'd been in poor health for some time, but it still comes as a shock to have him gone. We are going to miss him terribly. I've attached up a couple of news articles, but they leave out a major point. In addition to the family members he's survived by tens of thousands of bone marrow transplant recipients.
For those reading this on JWN and JWR; yes joining a religion opposed to blood transfusions didn't sit well with a hematologist father. But the last few years we had an opportunity to heal a lot of old wounds.

The Seattle Times can't resist dredging up their own past attempt to win a Pulitzer prize. They neglect to mention that most of the article was refuted by trial testimony. Oh well, they have the family history right.
