What my brain thinks about pennies vs a million dollars doesn't make any difference. What would make a difference is finding somebody with a house for sale who's brain can't tell the difference.

Napolean Hill says that your subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between a penny and a million dollars.
by Narcissistic Supply init will empower you to whatever you feed it.
you can feed it good thoughts or you can feed it disempowering beliefs.
it will work towards achieving whatever it is fed.

1969 "fact": You will never grow old in this present system of things
by Ding inawake!
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.

I graduated from High School about two weeks after that was published. Now I'm collecting social security. So much for never growing old (although, I don't feel old).

Thanks for the link Ohiocowboy, and your thoughts Sammie. We're moving into territory where the Zimmerman trial is going to be small potatoes. Personally I never did think I knew what happened and I still don't. But we've had a trial and its done as far as I'm concerned. However we now have the Ministry of Love (if you don't know the reference, catch up on Orwell) trying to pin a thought crime on GZ. Some of you may think this is a great thing, you won't when Big Brother sets his sights on you and won't give up. I oppose an all encompassing government, not for what it can do to me, but because of what it can do to all of us.

Why can't they go back to the old way of charging for the magazines
by joe134cd ini'm just curious, and i know i always end up with an answer.. but why can't the society go back to its old way of charging for the magazines.
i know this is probably easier said than done.
but if they were keeping a float in the past but are sinking now on the donation model, then is seems obvious charging for the mags was the better way to go.

I've often wondered this same question. It is not difficult to include the tax in the cost when making the sale. And (at least in Washington State) the forms aren't that complicated. I could write an excel spreadsheet in about five minutes that would do the work for them. They might run into liability problems, but I'm not sure. So I don't know why they didn't just pay the taxes and keep brining in the money. I suspect they wanted to keep up an appearance of staying neutral on government, and figured they could beat the money out of the flock.

It's been said that Justice is a process not a result. In this case justice happened. Prosecutors presented their evidence of a crime, the defense presented their evidence that no crime occured and a jury decided what they believed happened. I think this is the process at work, for good or ill. The extreme versions of any other process are for a couple of cops deciding he didn't do anything wrong and just letting him go; or a mob decides he's guilty, drags him out of the jail and hangs him. We've tried both of those methods in the past and they don't work too well. So we follow a process that sometimes produces (or very often produces) results some of us don't like.
I prefer that process to the alternatives.

Disney's The Lone Ranger - This movie is awful - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
by Las Malvinas son Argentinas ini never really liked the 'pirates' movies that much, so i don't know how i was talked into this one.
it's a shame because johnny depp is much better than these quirky roles he is now assigned to play.
just hope he puts a few million of this payday in his kid's college fund.

I read one review that said it should be titled "Pirates of the Carribean 4.5: Sparrow goes West." That was pretty much my thought when I saw the trailer. I'll watch it when it comes out on HBO.

You have a right to travel. You can walk, ride a bike, ride horse, take a boat, swim, take a train, fly...
The right to travel does not equal a right to drive.

Archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assination by a Serbian nationalist sparked WWI, advocated a liberal approach to most of the ethnic minorities in the Austio-Hungarian Empire.
Currently reading "July 1914" by Sean McMeekin I'm sure I will pick up more interesting factoids as I read more.

Do you think "Blondie" is addicted to reading Watchtowers and Awakes?
by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

I haven't been in a kingdom hall since 1988. I'm writing a blog about JW related issues and working on a novel, both of which involve significant research into my former religion. I appreciate Blondie's efforts and I've made use of some of her insights, and willl do so in the future. I think she is a great person and a brilliant researcher/analyst.
Go find something useful to do.

intel on warwick project
by stuckinamovement inthe committee assigned to build the new complex was called into a meeting with the governing body.
they were told " you finish this project by january 1 2017. we want the keys to the complex and will be headquartered there by that date, do you understand?".
when the brothers protested and said that it would take 6 years for the project to be complete and if they moved that fast there would be many mistakes, the gb responded, "we don't care, that is your deadline".

I'd say the projected budget has hit the ceiling and the accountants are beginning to sweat.
I worked in real estate accounting, commercial and multi-family with a lot of developement experience for 25 years. I've NEVER worked on a project that met the original budget or timeline. I can only imagine what unskilled volunteer labor does to that.
