  IPCC Climate Change Report........

  .....states that there is 95% certainty climate change is man made.

  people are still saying we don't need to do anything about it.. if you were told there is a 95% risk of you dying if you don't change your diet, wouldn't you change your diet?.

  Cantleave and besty, I yes I read most of the article. I had to get out of the house to do a day of volunteer work at my granddaughter's school. I just got back and I plan on watching football. At some point I'll look up the IPCC report and see what they said. We've known for decades (or more) that the oceans moderate weather I'm just wondering to what extent the models take this into consideration, and how this fits in to the current predictive models.

  Sorry, I'm too burned out to think about it tonight. I'll take a longer look tomorrow.

  Red light camera ticket

  my last speeding ticket was in tennessee in 1993, was going 15 miles over the speed limit and got a $60 ticket.

  that was my last one.. three weeks ago did not make a complete stop making a right turn here in california and got nailed with a "camera ticket".. damage to my wallet ...$540 and have to take an 8hour class.. i guess california is in need of a lot of cash.. do you have traffic cameras where you live or are they illegal?.

  A couple of places around here (Seattle area) have a few. One city gave serious consideration to turning theirs off because so many people were disputing tickets and winning. The courts were getting clogged up and it ended up costing money.

  Edited to add, at least here you can request a hearing and request that the guy who understands the mechanics of the system and reviews the cases show up in court. More than a few people have gotten off because he didn't show. One math prof got an automated speeding ticket and beat the system by measuring the distance his car traveled between the camera shots and proving he wasn't speeding.

  Ray Franz blamed for 1975 false prophecy

  i was raised a jw and as a kid my family made brief mention of apostates in bethel that falsely prophecied about 1975 and were kicked out of bethel.

  i was shocked after i got out and learned that him being removed had absolutely nothing to do with 1975. i think that partial lie spread is what kept my relatives in.

  1975 a big let down/false prophecy, then they are told that a governing body member and many in bethel are found apostate and cleaned out, etc.

  The semi-official verson is that everybody got excited over some "possibility" regarding 1975, they blame us for reading too much into statements in the literature. Saying that Ray was responsible contradicts that narrative. Which is?

  so, i am talking to a long time friend, you know, the non-judgmental type that doesn't really mind that i don't go to many meetings and am never out in service.

  he tells me that the annual meeting is coming up and that the whole congregation is invited...well, at least the active "approved" whole congregation.

  he speaks with an excitement that puzzles me, like he just got invited to the locker room of his favorite football team when they won the superbowl.

  The Washington Navy Yard is a ceremonial and administrative center (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Navy_Yard) . Nobody there was bombing anybody. The victims of the shooting were civilian contractors, making them even more removed from violence. In other words they were ordinary folks doing jobs to support their families.

  In my opinion you might find it beneficial to contemplate the idea that being an arrogant, self-righteous, ignorant blowhard carries its own karmic burden.

  I've tried a couple of times. Made it the first time, not the second two. I've got two other projects I'm working on right now (one sort of JW related) I'm putting on my block and a sci-fi piece for some military history people I talk to on another board. Maybe I'll try to finish the second of those on Nano, I'll just adjust my starting point for the word count. Might be a good way to finish, rather than start, a book.
