How big is the project you're managing? Bigger complexes are always easier to run, because you can afford more people to do the work.

WOW-crazy day at work. Congrats to me???
by TweetieBird insharing my wild day at work today because it is 1am and i can't sleep.. i am an assistant manager at an apartment community.
the manager has been a complete nightmare (bipolar and incompetent) so the last 10 months have been challenging to say the least.
got to work this morning and our regional was already there which was a little strange but half expected due to something that happened last week.

I used to go to an evengelical church where most members believed in the rapture. The difference between most JW's and most believers in the rapture is that the mainstream Christians continue to live there lives on the assumption that they will be here a while. I've never known an evangelical to sell their house or cash in their life insurance because the rapture was going to be so soon. Our church made (happy) announcements when children were accepted into college. Yet almost all of these people would tell you that the rapture could occur at any time.

What have Jehovah's Witnesses copied from the Mormons
by konceptual99 inhave jws pinched anything other than family worship from the mormons?.
could we see jws implement a type of meeting structure similar to the mormons to try and engage different ages in different ways?.
could we ever see a jw feel free to do anything like...?.

I think it is very useful to find common problems associated with various cults.
One thing the Mormons do very well is encourage their members to be educated and engaged members of their community. This is something the WTBS will never do.

Have you ever had a hallucination? What was it like?

Are asking with or without chemical involvement? I saw all sorts of things while on LSD, I think I knew I was seeing things, but there was so much going on mentally it's hard to know. Not an experience I want to repeat, but I'm a lot older now.

So in 1984 I had a job as an assistant apt manager to supplement my income (I'd just gotten out of a second run at college and entry level accounting jobs didn't pay much). About a month into it, the owners got in a fight over management, two of the five owners had their own mgmt companies and one succeeding in talking the other partners into giving him the building. The other guy pulled the crew off the property in retaliation. The last thing the old manager did, on Sunday morning, was hand me a coffee can full of keys and tell me I was in charge. I ended up quiting the entry level job, and stayed in property management until I was pushed into retirement in 2009. On the whole it worked out pretty well.
I'm surprised your manager's contract doesn't specify that they have to get off the property if they are no longer employed there. I hope they don't cause too much trouble. Where are you? I'm in Washington state. If you want advice or just to swap war stories PM me.

A Handy Guide to Woo and Assorted Superstitions
by cofty init's interesting how superstitious people point the finger and laugh at other people's superstitions.. the only honest thing is to reject all of them.
here is a handy checklist to see if you have missed any.

What's interesting about acupuncture is that it seems to work for somethings (pain management, addiction treatment for example). What isn't known is how it works. Placebo effect would explain a lot but not everything. Interference with nerve signals or release of neurotransmitters could explain how it works in pain control. Here's a link to an NIH abstract of an article about it.

Are YOU Paying More or Less or the Same $$$ For Insurance Since Obamacare?
by minimus injust curious.
-
JeffT
Just got new rate sheet from my insurer. My current policy willl no longer exist after 1/1/14 because its not ACA compliant. Replacement will be about three hundred a month more for one that is not as good, or about six hundred more for one roughly equal.
