What happens after a couple of thousand years of paradise?

my guess is, god gets bored.. armageddon's over, the earth has been cleansed, only his sycophants have survived.

all is perfect.

after a millenium or three god gets bored.

I've thought of trying to write a short story about how bored everybody would be after a billion years or whatever of Paradise, at which point they've seen and done everything a million times. Literally. I gave up on it because it was boring.

i lived in a boarding house near a library for a few years from age 15 to 18. i spent lots of time reading popular mechanics & popular science.

all the way back to their first issues.

when i heard about the gb's claim, and 1922, i knew that someone before had predicted the cell phone.

Even Tesla was extrapolating from existing technology. Marconi invented the "wireless telegraph" in 1895. It wasn't that big a stretch to think of wireless telephones in the future. Lots of visionaries (many of them writing science ficition) have made some good guesses about what future techonology will look like. The real fun is in watching them miss a new trend completely, personal computers being a good example. There are numerous variations of robots clanking around the starship while the crew works out navigational problems on their slide rules.

" since rubies aren't in the budget, we went to ruby beach for the weekend.

Apparently there are Ruby Beaches all over the country. This one is on the Pacific Coast of the Olympic Pennisula north of Klaloch and South of Forks.

OK, I was thinking of posting a pic taken outside the KH on Oct. 6, 1974; but then I looked at it and decided not to. It's there on a post a year ago if you want to look.

This one was Debbie's work on the beach. As we walked back we found another one celebrating twenty years. Deb put an arrow next to it pointing toward hers and added the notation "they have more." We ended up having a nice conversation with the other anniversary couple.

I had the same idea as Greenhorn. I haven't been in a Kingdom Hall since 1988. I should download the app and check JWN frequently, maybe look at some porn. I could give them a real run trying to find me. If they did, I'd tell them I'm not a JW and what I look at on my phone is my business.

i don't know about ya'll, but i did not appreciate the 1980s enough.

i was too busy lamenting how different they were from the 1960s and 1970s to bask in and appreciate how wonderful they were.. this is 80s music, especially new wave music, and 80s fashion and culture appreciation thread.

what did you love about the 80s?

Bill, I had not seen what he said, but I talk to a lot of military and ex-miltary on the net. A number of them are making or quoting similar comments. Air power enthusiasts have been claiming for a hundred years or so that aircraft can win wars by themselves. I think some people are claiming that Bill Clintons bombing in Serbia ended that conflict. The claim is disputed, and even if true its the only time it happened.

I agree, its going to take "boots on the ground."

A lot of people did not take Hitler and the Nazis seriously in the early 1930's. I can't find the quote just now but I've read some political leaders at the time who said that they expected Hitler to moderate his policies once he had power consolidated.

ISIS seems different from other terrorist groups in that they are seizing and controling territory (or attempting to). Their stated goal is to reestablish the Caliphate as an actual government over the captured land. They may be gone someday, but we don't know what its going to take to do that.
