  That place reminds me of the prison in "The Shawshank Redemption."

  I've been involved in a lot of development over the years. I've never heard the term "peak construction." The only number that matters is "percent completed."

  a (non-jw) woman that i work with has a daughter in public high school.

  last week, the daughter walked in on a male teacher watching what seems to be a soft-porn scene on youtube.

  she witnessed him unbuckle his belt and then appeared to be masterbating.. this occurred on school property while students were still onsite.

  This shouldn't be too difficult. If he was using a school computer the should be able to find a record of what he was looking at. This will give them the information they need to proceed, it make take a call from the DA's office to get that ball rolling.

  i believe he was quoting a science journal that actually made the predictions.

  Read some science fiction from that period or earlier. Lots of people were predicting all kinds of things. I'm reading "The War in the Air" by H. G. Wells. It was written in 1908, he saw very clearly the overall effect of technology on warfare (although not the details). Even earlier Jules Verne made some very good guesses about future technology, among them practical submarines and something very like television.

  I started studying and was baptized about the time I got a BA in English. Their were no jobs for English teachers at the time, I ended up taking care of lab animals (I job I'd had earlier working for my Dad). Almost ten years later I went back to school to study accounting in a one year intensive program.

  The elders counseled me not to do it, but I guess they couldn't DF me for it. Looking back, I think that was the start of getting out, which happened five years after I got the accounting certificate.

  The accounting career worked out well, for the most part. I'm glad I did it. I made up my mind to leave listening to a talk about the evils of higher education at at a CA. My children were going into their teen years and I wanted better things for them. That was in 1988.

  yet the utube interview dealt with reibling in argentina looking to invest in multiple $20 m - $50 m real estate financing.

  there was no discussion as to who's money reibling is looking to invest.

  • Jeff this is your field of expertise do real investors go on public media to advertise they have multi millions to invest?

    In a word, yes. Donald Trump has spent a lifetime hyping himself.

    And if per chance L. Reibling is a front man for the WBTS and that is church money what are the chances that the 'sharks' are going to take advantage of that money and remove it from the church.

    Who are the "sharks" and why and how would they be stealing from the WTBS? The Watchtower will no doubt invest the money its making somewhere. If they have sense they'll put into stocks and more probably government bonds, which would give them a tax free income stream.

    If that were true it would explain the currant money woes so close after of liquidating Brooklyn assets.

    I think that what we're seeing with the Watchtower's finances is short term cash flow trouble. If they do in fact make over a billion dollars on the sale of the NYC properties, properly invested (see above) that investment should produce about 40 million dollars of income per year.

  i recently watched all of the lotr/hobitt movies and man were they awesome!!!

  Movies are great, but read the books. J R R Tolkien was a professor of linguistics. His invented Elvish language is probably as well developed as Esperanto (and sounds better).

  I'm not a huge fan of Harry Potter, but my son and granddaughter love it.

  I didn't intend to say that they will be investing other people's money. I think that buying and selling real estate may be a major factor in their future business model as a source of funds. i believe that the Brooklyn real estate office they've set up may be the template for future business. They don't need other peoples money, they already own a ton of real estate. Nor will they want the scrutiny that comes with investing other people's money.

  according to ttdtt post I was correct I think? So maybe the reason their broke or cash poor is they we're unable to sell this property back in 2013, deal fell through. If this is true, then again it would explain one of the many reasons their cash poor and shutting down projects.

  This would make a lot of sense. If they were planning on a big cash hit that didn't go through, then they'd be strapped for cash. When this money comes in, they'll have the money they originally planned on, PLUS all the money they've shaken out of the congregations. What a loving provision from Jehovah. /barf/
