I converted in 1973, at age 22. I was caught up in the 1975 business. I became discontent over the years as nothing ever happened. In the spring of 1988 there was a talk about the evils of higher education, and how unnecessary it was since the new system was so close. My children were entering their teenage years, and wanted them educated. I started a major research project, and was on the road out.

The first thing you need to do is decide if you want a big refund of your own money back, or do you want to take it home and spend it now. Which is more useful to you? With a modicum of planning and restraint you can put the money in the bank and collect interest on it. This will give you more money next year if you just hang on to it. Remember, the government is happy to take your money now and give it back to you later with no interest.
We need to make basic financial management a required course for high school graduation. Also a simpler tax code.

I currently live just outside Woodinville. I've been out since 1988, but when I was a JW I was in the Pullman, Spokane Valley and Bellevue congregations.

Athanasius: I was a convert that was politically very active before I joined the cult. I've been out quite a while now. I've observed that understanding politics and government is a major challange for many xjw's. Therefore reasonable political discussion is appropriate here. But we all need to be careful about how we talk to those that disagree with us.

Not JW related, but should the electoral college be abolished?
by Billzfan23 inelizabeth warren, alexandria ocasio cortez, and other democrats are openly expressing interest (and in come cases, campaign promises) that the electoral college has to go.
i disagree for a few reasons.
first, the 25 states (out of 50, so 50%) with the smallest populations only get 21% of the electoral college votes (in our current system, today).

Just out of curiosity, how many on this thread have read the US Constitution and The Federalist Papers?

I hope Trump wins the popular vote and loses the electoral college. It will be a generation before we have to engage in this stupid argument again.
PS, Senators weren't meant to represent people. They represent the interests of the state, or they're supposes to.

The Mueller Report....will it affect Trump negatively?

do you think the report will do major damage to trump?.

Depends on what it says. If there is clear evidence of criminal acitivity, yes. By this I mean so obvious even the Republicans will have to acknowledge it. That is what brought Richard Nixon down, and gave Bill Clinton a pass. Nixon's problems became so big even his own party had to repudiate him. Clinton was able to make the charges look fuzzy enough to give Democrats supporting him cover to let him stay in office. (Side note, the Clinton affair can be taken as proof that lying under oath is not an impeachable offense, neither is hitting on an intern in the oval office,)
If Mueller can't find anything really big, it won't matter because the Democrats will just go look for something else to charge him with.
