The Watchtower's position on blood is also unscientific. Medicine does not recognize "major" vs "minor" components of blood. Transfusions of whole blood are relatively rare these days. Current practice is to give you the component you need.

Questions About the Watchtower's View on Blood Transfusions.
by Pallbearer ini admit to not being very well informed about the watchtower's view on blood transfusions.
i have a couple of questions that i hope someone here is able to answer.. i understand that the watchtower now considers it to be okay to receive blood fractions.. my first question is: are all fractions considered to be permissible?
and if not, specifically which fractions are not permissible?.

"We're not gonna take it" from the Rock Opera Tommy, if I had to pick one. With out that restriction I'd say the whole album. It came out before I was assimilated (I was about to graduate High School), and I always like the music. Since I left the WTBS I've thought the salvation via pinball meme was a good allegory for trying to sell enough Watchtowers.

I also remember what Spiral said. When I became a Dub in 1973 people at the KH were making fun of Mormons and the like for their disaster plans. The JW plan then consisted entirely of "Trust in Jehovah." Apparently, they are making more concrete plans now. -

The idiots Hollyweird destroys the Bond Franchise
by rockemsockem in99% of the people who go to bond films want a straight white english bond with a bit of light sexism and some bond girls thrown in.
they do not want a tranny bond or a gay or lesbian bond.
and they do not want a black woman bond.

The original James Bond (the one in Ian Fleming's books) is a product of the fifties: he drinks martinis 24/7, drives an exotic car, regards every woman in the world as a sex object, and fights communists for a living. He's the kind of man that teenage boys wanted to be when they grew up, its the same image of the world that Hugh Hefner conjured up in the pages of Playboy.
For all our current problems, that world is fortunatly a thing of the past, and I don't think the character can be translated into today's world. His doctor would lecture him about his drinking, he couldn't afford the car on a government salary, and every woman he spoke to would slap him and file a harrassment suit. .

Nathan, I'll take a look. I like Daniel Craig. On of my problems was that I don't think I've ever seen Pierce Brosnan in anything I liked. The man just grates on my nerves.

I think the WTBS has shot itself in the foot.
I did some research on clergy-penitent privilige. The definition of "clergy" is up in the air, Watchtower elders may not qualify. If the Court takes this case this will likely be one of the arguments.
The bigger problem is that the Watchtower has told elders to report child abuse in states where they are required to do so. This can be taken as evidence that they don't have any deep seated doctrinal problem about doing so. All, or almost all, states now have some version of mandatory reporting. I don't think the WTBS can now claim that doesn't apply to them, they've already admitted it does.

Thanks, I suspected they were still playing with words. I don't think the early Disciples had any UNPAID clergy either. I"m going to try find out how the law defines "clergy."

I saw Dr. No when I was twelve. I think Diamonds Are Forever was the last one I went to. I stopped paying attention to the franchise after that, but I think that was the target audience: males between the ages of twelve and twenty-five. But you're right I went to those movies because I knew I'd see gunfire, explosions, car chases, and some scantily-clad women. By today's standards the sex and risque jokes were quaint.
How many of these idiotic movies does Hollywierd have to lose money on before they figure it out?

Blondie, I've been out since 1988. Have the Jehovah's Witnesses given up claiming they don't have a clergy? Back in the day, they used to cite that as part of their proof that they were the only True Christian religion.
I'd think it would be hard to claim clergy-penitent privilege when you don't have a clergy.
