  Anyone have stories about this?

  just reading on reddit...witnesses coming over to someone’s home after a death in the family to ‘pick over’ their possessions or asking about if they left any money to the cult?

  i remember, at my previous place of employment, a mexican immigrant at my workplace, had converted to jw from catholic, although i did try to talk him out of it.

  this has to be over 25 years ago.

  I can think of three cases where something like that happened, none involved JW's or the Watchtower in any capacity. JW's don't have a lock on bad behavior. The worst one was an employer who got in a fight with his sisters over an oceanfront vacation house. By the time I quit working for him they hadn't spoken to each other for at least a year.

  I'm very thankful my siblings and I were able to settle our parent's estate without a fight. Mostly that is because Mom and Dad worked with a top notch estate lawyer, everything was settled before either one of them was even sick. There's a lesson in that.

  Johnny Depp is too busy being Johnny Depp to have to worry about actually working at his craft. (Tom Cruise fell down the same rabbit hole). When The Lone Ranger came out one of the critics said it should be called "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Sparrow goes West"

  I think Shawshank is one of the best movies ever made. It has developed a following and the producers are still taking money to the bank.

  as a rule, there are 3 types.

  one is the dramatic over the top person where a hangnail means you might have to get your finger cut off.. the second type is —who me, worry?

  i’m not going to let too much of anything bother me unless it really is armageddon.. the third type is the person in between.

  he has persevered through 2 years of community college.

  three of those semesters were at home because covid19 shut in person classes.

  Is this really about the Woke movement or more about ratings and viewership. If we lump everything together the message gets muddled.

  It isn't muddled, those two things go hand in hand. "Woke" films don't draw big audiences. In an effort to get the ratings back they produce crummy remakes of old hits. Neither wokeness nor remakes require creativity. Hollywood has forgotten that the first thing they need to do is entertain people. The death spiral will continue until they get back to basics.

  I heard a story shortly after I became a JW about somebody that parked their car on a hill. After they got out it rolled down the hill, something (demon) ran it into the ditch at the side of the road.

  Of course we all knew that couldn't happen just because somebody forgot to set the brake.

  Single Pretty Girls that are JWs, have so much potential, but sadly........

  the pandemic has made the situation worse for single young jw girls.. i'm hearing tons of sad stories of single jw girls who are going, or have gone into deep depression.

  with many having thoughts of committing suicide and hoping for a better life in the new order.. the pandemic has made it almost impossible for young jw girls to find a suitable marriage mate.

  especially since the single jw boys-men want young, gorgeous, thin, virgins, who look like models and summit to the headship arrangement.

  The first paragraph sounds like they require a chaperone if if you're on opposite sides of the country talking on the phone. No wonder young JW's are messed up.

  What’s Your View On Self Defense?

  if someone comes to you with a knife or a gun, would you defend yourself if you could?

  if someone tried to beat you up , would you physically engage, run away or just try to talk the person out of beating you up or robbing you?

  if you did have a gun to defend yourself would you shoot to kill or would you simply aim for the ankle to incapacitate the person?

  There's no such thing as shooting to wound someone or something. Guns and bullets do strange things, not intended by the shooter. You should assume that if you pull the trigger, what's in front of the gun might die. If it doesn't die, it's lucky.
