although we've been inactive for a couple of years now this is the first christmas we've celebrated.
while we know we may get dfed for putting one up we really don't care.. today while decorating the tree my wife is the happiest i've seen her in years.
she's singing downstairs and you just can't wipe that grin off her face.
I've said it before on this and a couple of other boards. We have some friends that know we've been married 27+ years. Some of them know our witness history, some of them either don't know or don't know jw doctrine about xmas.
The latter two groups are REALLY confused about our Hallmark ornament that says "1988 Our First Christmas Together."
Enjoy your tree. The night we put ours up in that first time I stayed up late just to watch the lights blink.
the gb grapevine news is that one of the older gb members conscientiously no longer feels he is one of the anointed (yeah i guess there's still one or two who still have a conscience) .
not a big news item but i found it very interesting, the "cracking" at the top continues!.

If not you should be. The 1940's Nazi's on the moon is straight out of "Rocket Ship Galileo."
why did you become a dub?.
a hope for something better?.
an acceptance that your parents religion was the truth?.
Radar, I'd like to talk to you some time.
I became a dub in 1973, the year I graduated from college. Interestinly what YouKnow said applied to me at the time. I was a newly converted Christian, I had no real knowledge of the Bible, and I wanted to learn. Then these people came along and told me they had all the answers. Being that I knew nothing what they presented to me seemed to be very deep. Also the acceptance into a group seemed at the time to be a demonstration of Holy Spirit.
I don't care what any of them say now, they were expecting the end in 1975. And world events seemed to be giving them support. War in the mideast with the subsequent energy crisis, Agnew was forced to resign then Nixon; and several other governments came apart, (If I recall right)France, Britian, and Germany among others.
Took me fifteen years to figure out that I really needed to look into who, exactly these people were, and another year to get myself out.
ever since i've stopped associating with jehovah's witnesses i can almost assure you that the first thing to go was my regular ministry involving going door-to-door, calling up people who live in gated communities, doing business territory, and writing letters.
i will say the primary reason why i did it was because i wanted to make god happy.
i actually received a measure of joy at the end of the day after going through the difficulty of mustering up enough courage to engage in a public ministry.
I think a ministry of some sort is a good thing, and strongly encouraged. However I don't think Jesus intended that anything be mandatory. Helping an elderly neighbor with yardwork, or feeding the homeless, or anything else that suits you counts in my book.
it is raining here today, big time.
i had to go out for a few errands and it was so miserable.
the puddles are freaking lakes.
I've been watching the river level all day on King County's website. There is a good chance the Snoqualamie going to go over the banks and I won't get to work.
One of the downsides to living in the boondocks.
a few minutes before the services started, the townspeople were sitting in their pews talking.
suddenly, satan appeared at the front of the room.
everyone started screaming and running for the entrance, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away from evil incarnate.. soon everyone had exited the church except for one elderly gentleman who sat calmly in his pew without moving, seeming oblivious to the fact that god's ultimate enemy was in his presence.. satan walked up to the old man and said, "don't you know who i am?".
Congrats.
I always like what you have to say.
ok i'm going to put this out there so all of you can support me by making me keep working.. i'm writing a novel based very loosely on my association with the witnesses.
right now i've got about 175 pages of a planned 300 done.
i keep letting other things get the way of my writing, and i've been semi-stuck for awhile.
Thanks again to all. I will keep you updated.
here iz mine:.
#1) "a cancer of the soul".
#2) "a fools paradise".
1)A dangerous controlly cult.
2)The Watchtower is to religion what Amway is to business.

Thanks to all for the kicks. I shall continue on some how.
The work is pure fiction. A religious cult based here in Seattle is getting into trouble because of false predictions of the end of the world. Gee, anybody want to guess where I got that idea?
If anybody wants to e-mail me the best place to get me is [email protected]
