Blondie,
If we all do have a big convention, who would lead us in the Watchtower Study for the week?
And irreverent can perhaps go over the daily text.

one thing that jws do, whether they were "strong in the truth" or not is accept presents.
even if they don't "celebrate" thanksgiving, they'd still take the turkey from the employer.
if someone sent out a birthday gift or christmas present, a witness would still take but never givein return.

was leaving the watchtower society the best decision of your life?
the benefits have been so great, my peace of mind has been great--better than i thought i would feel on the "other side.
" after deprogramming my mind from the cult mindset everything seems clearer, brighter.
Darth Frosty:
have sundays free to watch football (as god intended.)
LOL. That's classic. To that I might add:
I now have Saturday mornings free to: Sleep in late and have a leisurely breakfast at home (absolute bliss.)

A very close second to that was our decision to have children
NanaR I totally understand what you mean. My children are the center of my world. However they were not exactly decisions for me, more like "wonderful surprises I received earlier than expected."

Was leaving the Watchtower Society the best decision of your life? For me, it definitely has been. The benefits have been so great, my peace of mind has been great--better than I thought I would feel on the "other side." After deprogramming my mind from the cult mindset everything seems clearer, brighter. My life-focus is sharper: I know what I want and what I won't put up with.
For a fact, the freedom to get my post secondary education without being snubbed by some window washing elder is a real close second-Best.
What has been the best decision you've made in your life?
ugh...i dont know how to really start this,,,but i'm a christian and my husband was b4 our split in p1...however he returned home 3yrs ago on 12/17.
however he returned a jw wannabee, actually he studies with them he hasnt been baptized in the org...its so funny how i am picking up alot of the lingo here ev'1 uses...lol....anyway, i can see where his love is so conditional and i hv to remind him that god loves us "unconditionally".
i continue to give him the true word of god!!
actually he studies with them
You are still in time to get your husband to question what he is being taught.
Ask him how he would feel if you needed medical intervention requiring a blood transfusion and he was a match? Would he obey this "new religion" and not help you in your time of need? How is that a loving thing to do?
Let him ask questions regarding the policy of shunning. Who determines if someone is really repentant? Why should a mere human's evaluation of another person result in their being shunned by close firends? How is this loving especially in the case of a minor?
Also try to form a social network with your own church or community group. Sometimes people study with the JW just because they think it's better than being alone. Find out if he can join a group of people doing something he enjoys like a favorite hobby or sport. This way he won't rely too much on the JDubs for not having anything else to do on the weekends.

the christian greek scriptures outline three distinct ways in which a christian could become bloodguilty before god: (1) by bloodshed, murder this would include those actively or tacitly supporting the activities of a bloodguilty organization (such as babylon the great [re 17:6; 18:2, 4] or other organizations that have shed much innocent blood [re 16:5, 6; compare isa 26:20, 21]); (2) by eating or drinking blood in any way (ac 15:20); and (3) by failing to preach the good news of the kingdom, thereby withholding the lifesaving information it contains.ac 18:6; 20:26, 27; compare eze 33:6-8.. .
it-1 346-347. i remember being filled with panic, if i did not take every opportunity to preach to others.
not only was i responsible for myself, my children, i felt a responsiblity to everyone i came in contact with.. i would think to myself, should i say something or not........if i don't they might lose their life all because i did not take the opportunity to preach to them.
The only time I started feeling bloodguilty was when I realized that by their flip flops with the blood docrine, the Watchtower Society has been directly responsible for the deaths of innocent children. When I realized how unfounded their beliefs are, I decided I could not be a member of that cult.

Hi and welcome.

so there was a brother that i have know for some time that bought a little truck.
i wanted to buy this truck and he wanted to sell it to me, but might at the same time want to keep it since his son is almost of age.
so i borrowed this truck for a while, about a month, and the brother told me he put it on his insurance and it cost him a whopping 25$ a year since he had been with his insurance company.. well long story short a lady cut me off and i rear ended her at about 5mph... not a very hard collision... but when i call the brother (who is a ms) he says he doesnt have insurance and denies telling me he ever had it.
Elsewhere, very good advice.

attention apostates!
i'm sick, and i'm bored!!!
that means fun for all of us!.
does the bible contain accounts of persons who, while not active members of "organized" religion have god's appoval?
if it does, this would contradict watchtower teaching, since they often claim that anyone who's not a baptized member of their organization will suffer destruction.
further they claim that only active members of their "organization" have god's approval.
