have you ever refused to serve on a jury due to personal religious convictions?.
if so, were you immediately excused from serving in the jury?.
if you are not religious, would you still use that as an excuse to get out of serving in a jury?.
Thanks everybody.

I have never been called to serve in a jury. But if I was I don't think I could do it. The thought of judging a total stranger and then deciding their punishment is just too uncomfortable to even think about. There are people who have been wrongly convicted( http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-02-11-wrongly-convicted_x.htm) and I feel that it's a devastating thing for them and their family. I hope I'm never called to serve on a jury.

Hi, bigmouth. Are you in New Zealand? Do they offer some payment for those who take time off work to serve in a jury?

masking over reality - for what purpose?.
A good question to ask the partakers at the memorial: How much of the "Spiritual Food" did you prepare this year?
By its stress on a "class" it also serves to robe the real authority structure with a shroud of anonymity, giving the appearance of a wide diversity of membership and globality that is 'not of whole cloth,' simply not true.

thought i would share this - for all those who have been cheated on, this is great.. not that i'm vindictive though .

I was like, couldn't you have timed this better and saved me a lot of emotional regret and money?
Hi and welcome!
You think your situation was bad. I heard one where this newly married guy cheated on his wife with someone he met at work, while his wife was eight months pregnant.
She had the prospect of getting a divorce, re-locating and raising a newborn all at the same time.
Some people have no concept of what a commitment really means.

i read that david beckham is leaving real madrid and coming to the us to play for the la galaxy.
soccer is not that popular in the us and that is a obscene amount of money to pay a player and i am surprised that david beckham would want to finish out his career playing in the us.
i guess for $250 million anyone would.
Maybe he's not worth that much. If i did play soccer, I wouldn't mind having him on my team.
Scully: these are for you

i received an email dated 01-11-007 from a brother at bethel here it is.
######### i heard this first hand, this morning that the faithful and discreet slave said that matthew 24: 14 has been fulfilled.
it was announced at the special day assembly at houston tx.
Sure...
The big news actually is that unless the GB provide some excuse for the decline in growth, the Watchtower will lose control of the slaves publishers who wise up and leave.

Women like her (not all women) use wedding rings as Divorce Insurance. They know they have a couple of grand sitting on their finger that can be cashed in at any time should they ever decide to bail on the guy.
This is so ludicrous, it’s hilarious.
"Divorce Insurance” THAT’S FUNNY!! You obviously have no idea how much a divorce costs. The average fee for a divorce attorney is right around $1200.00 and this is with an UNCONTESTED divorce. NOT to mention the cost of moving, setting up new utilities, new deposit on an apartment, etc. Only an ignorant female would think that $2,000.00 is somehow going to provide some sort of “insurance” or financial advantage if she were to “ever decide to bail the guy.”
I would say that since she has no kids or an obvious disability, she more than likely did have a job. So IF that was the case, she was contributing to the combined living expenses just like a room-mate. Hardly sounds like a gold-digger to me. I’d say if she worked even part time during those four years and they lived in a one bedroom apartment (whch costs the SAME regardless if one or two people rent it) she contributed way more than $2,000.00 to their combined living expenses over the course of the four years.
They were not engaged, or married. I would never expect a guy—no matter how long we “lived together” to be exclusively loyal to me UNLESS we were engaged or married.

warning: the wtbts is becoming more cultish as evidenced in this mp3.
listener take heed.
turn on all your cult warning alarms on.. .
IMHO, it appears that the reason for this Mt. 24:14 declaration is to provide an excuse or a cop-out
for the dismal single digit increase (and in many countries a decrease) the rank and file see when they read the Service Report™ for the end of year 2006.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/125492/1.ashx
This New Light™ accomplishes at least two purposes:
1. The members in the Borg don’t start to question the lack of “increase which indicates Jehovah’s blessing.”
2. The anticipation of the next big “prophesy to be fulfilled” serves as a scare tactic to keep the active rank and file too scared to “drift away or become inactive.
It sounds like an attempt at damage control by placating the ranck and file with an explanation for the lack of increase, thus keeping them from interpreting the lack of growth as a sign the WBT$ does NOT have Jah’s backing.
