Honeymoon Disfellowshippings

one of the anomalies of the disfellowshipping process is the common situation when someone who is unscripturally divorced remarries.

in these occasions , the instruction is to always disfellowship the individual , regardless of repentance or attitude - what is referred to as a honeymoon df in elders jargon.

hence you have the (to me) bizarre situation of privately reproving a child molester , rapist or murderer one week and disfellowshipping a newly remarried middle aged sister who has been divorced for 20 years the next week.

Ok I'm not trying to be pro-JW here, because anybody can see the hypocricy in this situation, but how else can Jesus' words at Luke 16:18: "Everyone who divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery" ??

Good question. Here's the way I see it:

A marriage is like a contract. When one or both parties breaks the marriage vow, the contract becomes invalid. If someone promises to "love and cherish you; forsaking all others" and then fails to do that, the marriage is already a broken contract.

When a marriage union is dissolved by broken vows and subsequently by the LAW which exists by God's permission (Ro. 13: 1 ) the marriage dissolution is God-approved.

Adultery by definition cannot be commited by people who are not married. An act of adultery can only occur when the "marriage" is VALID. Emotional abuse would fall int the category of unloving behavior which renders a marriage invalid. No marriage---no adultery. Leave the abusive person and freely find someone who will truly love you and shows it by his/her Actions.

Here's some just off the top of my head:

Emotional abuse in a marriage is not a "good enough" reason to get a divorce. (This is dead wrong BTW, you should get a divorce-- the hell with the stupid elders.)

Very young children can be "baptized" and are subject to being DF and shunned by everyone they have known even if the only "sin" is to question the WBT$.

The internet has information that can destroy a persons "faith." (But if there was actual truth to back up the JW faith, it should be able to stand up to scrutiny.)

Upsizing your life...

every time you go to a fast food restaurant they ask you a standard question: what size?

now, they are talking about deep-fried transfatty acid sticks and flavored sugar water.. i have noticed a lot of people have had the same struggle i have had: life as a spokesperson for the greatest person in the universe was a pretty big life.

how do i replace that?.

There is a huge need in the area I live for children of immigrants to learn English as a second language. There are many families who are Somali, from Latin America and other countries were there are not enough economic opportunities.

The hope of many of these families is to become permanent residents or work up to being naturalized citizens. These people come to the US to better their life but the public schools are not equipped to educate the many young people who are enrolled in the system. I will be volunteering to help the elementary school aged children learn English and I think this is a worthwhile goal.
