  I need help with a discussion with my parents!

  my parents are on the circuit, well educated, well intentioned and totally committed to the wts.

  for years i have argued with them over issues and doctrine.

  they know most things that are wrong with the wts but refuse to budge on the idea that it is the only true religion.

  The Governing Body is “going beyond the things that are written” to pressure young one’s to take such a step before they are adults.
  
  *What detailed, written financial provision exists for the housing, feeding, healthcare etc. of retired Gilead Missionaries? These are people who have given up a secular job to be Missionaries for many years in a foreign land. When they become too sick or too old and can no longer carry on in that capacity, what do they come home to? Are they left to fend for themselves? To the extent that the Governing Body does not feed the least of these they do not figuratively feed Christ’s “household” and cannot rightfully claim to be The Faithful and Discreet slave.
  
  *If God did have a single channel, it would not create laws that go beyond what is written by prohibing certain kinds of birth control or beards on men, etc. The Governing Body in Brooklyn is clearly no different, but a lot more harmful, from other religions which comprise the “great apostasy” of groups that sprung up since the end of the First Century congregation.

  They do NOT have the light that gets brighter-- it get’s dimmer.
  
  *For example: What is the significance of 1914 again?

  I don't want them to say, "At least we were able to say goodbye," to themselves as a way to comfort the hurt their overlords have saddled them with.

  You can't control what your relatives say to themselves. IF days later anyone of them see you at the park, or the grocery store, etc. just smile at them and acknowledge them as if nothing has happened. After all, you're leaving a controlling religion, not them. They will smile back and acknowledge you too, if they really love you.

  now i go to a girls skool.

  I get the feeling you are in a country besides the US. but I'm not sure. For a 15 year old, you sure do have a lot of pressure put on you at such a young age.

  Take advantage of every oportunity to learn about he JW religion so that you can give good reasons to your mom as to why you don't want to go with her to the meetings. Try asking her why the 1914 date no longer means what it used to. Maybe in trying to give you an explanation, she'll see the non-sense of the cult she just joined.

  according to the book cults in our midst by margaret thaler singer the practice of love bombing is a common practice in groups who seek to control others.

  without the constant pressure to be loving and caring to newcomers our hearts are free to do what comes naturally.

  I myself have never felt "love bombed" just listen to, supported.

  i bought my first christmas tree last week. we decorated it w/ lights and cute ornaments and tinsel and all that good stuff. we made stocking for our 2 dogs and the cat too

  I may have sealed my fate - part three

  i just wanted to give a quick update to anyone who might have read my earlier posts on this subject.. tonight my wife, who is very active in the hall, has a talk in the back school.

  i haven't been to a meeting in about three months, and i really don't want to be there, but i want to support my wife.

  but of course, the people who supposedly have so much love are making it a difficult decision for me.

  Two nights ago an elder called our phone at ten o'clock at night and left a message wanting to know when he and the PO could come by for a sheperding call.

  If these elders have already decided that you are "bad association" they are likely wanting to "visit" so that they can get more information about why you haven't been to meetings. This is just what they are instructed to do by the "society." Anything you say can and will be held against you. If you don't want them to form a JC meeting or a "ruling" against you, then don't give them the chance.

  It Seems That My Children Are Not Trained

  i just returned home from the kingdom hall.

  i am an elder.. after the meeting all the elders were called to the back room.

  i thought this was an impromptu elders' meeting.

  Are you saying in that KH only one Congregation meets? If others meet ther also, you could say that the hours that the other cong. meets are more practical for you and your family. Or, if you want to go to another hall altogether just start out by going there as frequently --or infrequently as you like. After you have made it very clear you will NOT be doing elder duties at the old hall, they can't say they "need" you.

  The first group of elders will likely try to control your actions and say that "the society" wants all publishers to go to nearest/assigned/designated Kingdom Hall. I know they were doing that to some in my former hall. This is just another way they want to control you. If they become so stubborn so as to order you to precisely which hall to go to, you'll have to make a decision obey them or fade out--- unless you do something more drastic like re-locate the entire family to another neighborhood altogether.
