Banana fritters are lovely, but very fattening I might add. Make some batter, roll the bananas in the batter and deep fry for a couple of minutes. Lovely with vanilla ice cream. You can do the same with old apples.

My best friend. We had been friends for years until I left. Now they tell her I am a bad associate .
Also an elderly couple in the congregation who I love so much. I actually bumped into them and they were really happy to see me. They didnt avoid . me like some of the others, although I havent been df'd or da'd yet so some may still talk to me.

I would choose now. Although we have a long way to go, certainly in Britain with the DDA, things have improved a lot in regards to stamping down on inequality. Being married to a witness I have HATED the belief that he is my 'family head'. Yeah right!
I would however like to spend a few hours in about the year 2059 and see what has happened to 'the lie' when Armageddon still hasnt arrived.

Did you Exit the Witnesses Gradually - Or Exit Suddenly - Your Reasons ?
by flipper ini thought it would be good to discuss it to understand what caused some of us to exit suddenly, or some to exit gradually .. myself , i had been in 44 years , had mentally had doubts for years before exiting - but injustices by the elders and my doubts about the " generation " doctrine led me to exit suddenly one night before a meeting.
the elders pissed me off , i went to my seat, picked my books up and walked out - never going back.
so what is your story and reasons ?

Suddenly. I had been deliberating how to leave and planned a gradual fade. I was a reg pioneer to boot, so decided it was best to do it gradually, saying I was stressed and needed time out. However, I became ill in the summer and missed a couple of weeks of meetings. The relief of not going was immense and I felt so peaceful and happy. When I felt better I got ready to go to a meeting with hubby. I stood looking in the mirror at myself in my meeting clothes, looking all witnessy, and thought 'I cant face this anymore'. I got changed into my casual gear, went downstairs and told my husband I could do it anymore. I havent been back since. I never want to go back again.

Thanks so much for the very warm welcome. It is nice to know there are so many in the same situation as me. In my KH I didnt know anybody with doubts, let alone wanting to leave. It is so refreshing to meet some like minded folk.
Jonathan Dough - Hi. If you believe in the Bible and an intelligent creator, all well and good. I dont. I need proof. I dont get the absent Father and cloak and dagger act. If he was there surely he would make sure we absolutely knew that and werent left guessing. His silence speaks volumes. As for being wrong, none of us can say for certain that anyone is wrong. We can only say we think they are because of the opinions we have formed, based on the way we interpret the evidence (or lack of).

What Happens After You Leave?

do you turn against all religion or do you find another?
people say they're happy when they leave...that they feel free, but i'd hate to think that people give up on everything religious.. if you do stay religious, how many doctrines of the jws do you retain?

You start to live now, instead of chasing the carrot dangled by religion that there is a better life to come. Perhaps there is. If I miss it then so be it. I would rather enjoy what I have....a bird in the hand and all that. A quote from a source I cant remember....I would rather live one day as a Lion than forever as a lamb.
I think you will find that we all have very different views after we leave.
