DGP - thank you. Yes my nickname is just perfect. Every morning I wake up I remind myself to seize the day. Its that attitude that helped me free myself from the org. Today is all we have after all, so as Jack said on the film Titanic 'make each day count'!

Thanks folks

Today, to celebrate, I had a snickers.......mmmmm. Later I plan to cook a nice meal and have a red wine, or two, or three......! When my kids get in I will start singing 'Happy birthday to me' to remind them of the date. They dont know its my birthday because I havent celebrated it for ages. It is quite nice being told 'happy birthday' - so thanks very much!

What are you Thankful for this year?

in the spirit of thanksgiving, thought i ask what everyone is thankful for.. i am thankful for my family's good health and happiness, for the great friends i have, for my job that i absolutely love, for celebrating my 7th year of freedom this month from the wt publishing cult.. anyone else?.

I too am thankful for this site - for knowing there are many others like me.

I am thankful that I no longer have to waste half my week studying, going to meetings or in service.

I am thankful that I will never again have to knock on the door of a stranger who doesn't want me there, while I waffle on about something that I stopped believing in a long time ago.

I am thankful I left while I still have plenty of life left in front of me (hopefully). Even if I only have one day left, I am thankful I dont have to spend it in a cult.

I am thankful that my kids left before me and that I have them on the outside.

I am thankful for a good job that pays well.

I am glad I am making friends on the outside.

What did you look like as a JW?

i was going through some old photos today, i found one of myself when i was a devout jw.

it was really shocking!

i'm so thin, my cheeks are hollow, i'm as white as the wall behind me, i'm standing hunched over, and in my eyes you can see real misery.

I looked formal and felt uncomfortable. I hated dressing for meetings and feel much better now I can wear what I want. I have a wardrobe full of clothes I probably wont wear again - except for the occasional job interview or funeral. I also wear less make up now and feel much better for shedding the whole JW image.
