One aspect of evolution that does not make sense.....
by EndofMysteries inthe part that does make sense are how bodies adapt over time to surroundings and use.
for example because of eating habits changing, our jaws have become smaller and we don't need wisdom teeth.
or the effect of the sun on our skin, etc.

Do athiests believe it's possible that aliens, not all powerful God created man?
by EndofMysteries ini've sort of mentioned this as a different possibility in response to other threads but i was curious if any of you athiests all think that life just evolved on this earth from single cell organisms or if you ever thought it's possible that intelligent life long ago w/ advanced science could have made humans and much of life on earth and just dumped it here or made it here.

i'm not making this thread to debate, i am just curious if any of you have come up with other ideas on your own as possibilities since all we have for the origin of life are just theories right now.

No reality is not dull at all.
Things we DO know and are FACT are fascinating.
Putting a halt to critical thinking for theories and hypothesis that so far can not be proved is limiting and could be hindering.
It seems most of the world thinks that the answer life on Earth must be either A) creation by all knowing all powerful eternal master of the universe OR B) a series of dividing by zero and a trillion chances to one for just the right conditions to happen to just the right thing to spontaneously result in the first life form then subsequent mutations resulting in billions of different life forms on Earth.
What if both are wrong? If it's nonstop trying to prove one or the other without entertaining other possibilities then may never get the answer if it really is neither of those two.

island man - while it's true if the origin of life on Earth was extraterrestrial would not answer the question about the origin of life and the origin of the extraterrestrial life, it would be a step in the right direction and possibly impossible to answer without access to the extraterrestrial and if that is the case, the answer may never be found until that happens if it happens. We may be the equivalent of metal robots w/ AI built into ourselves to what extraterrestrials may be if they made us. Gotta work backwards to get to the origin, jumping and skipping major points probably won't work. But we gotta work with what we have now.

Phizzy, a little along the lines of what you said, a new theory is that our entire universe is actually either the result or contained inside a black hole created by a 4th dimensional star that died. If that's the case, imagine how small a black hole is in relation to our universe, then our entire universe in a black hole of a 4th dimensional universe.

by punkofnice inok. i'm a brit as some of you know.. what i noticed with the wbt$ is how they only seem to write from an american cultural standpoint.
not a bad thing if you're one of my cousins form the usa i admit........ but.... here in the uk there are some things that are meaningless to us.. eg hazing.
this was warned about in a study and over here we had no idea what it was and it kind of alienated the congregation from the study.

A real IQ test is not limited to knowledge. No college and my IQ tested at 130. There were many puzzles, memory, and logic aspects of the test. If it was only based on education then it would have shown no college.

we can call this background of a maintained cosmos "god" if we want.

If not creation by a single being, I find that easier to buy then just athiesm and random chance spontaneous life out of nothing. I was contemplating the other day how within our body there exists a world / ecosystem w/ cells, t cells, invaders, viruses, etc, and how remarkable how they interact and such, then how within a cell there is a whole world itself. It made me think how our whole planet may be just a cell within something else, etc.
