by EndofMysteries inhttp://www.inquisitr.com/1766536/biology-professor-creationist-magazine/.
a biology professor is speaking out, demanding an apology and calling for an end to attempts to perpetuate lies against evolution after a statement from him was taken out of context in a creationist article in awake!, a jehovahs witness publication.
he says that a portion of his statement was picked from the whole, leaving a completely different impression from his actual statement.. .

I also wonder if he can or may take legal action. The magazine is distributed to millions and as he states it can hurt his reputation and credibility. He asked for a print in a magazine for an apology and admission of twisting the facts. I wonder if he'll take action against them. -

A biology professor is speaking out, demanding an apology and calling for an end to attempts to “perpetuate lies against evolution” after a statement from him was taken out of context in a creationist article in Awake!, a Jehovah’s Witness publication. He says that a portion of his statement was picked from the whole, leaving a completely different impression from his actual statement.
The article spoke of educated scientists who don’t believe that evolution occurred, and they quoted Professor of Biology Rama Singh to make their point. Professor Singh teaches Biology at McMaster University, in Ontario, Canada. The statement appears to show Professor Singh suggesting that there are good reasons to doubt evolution.
Rama Singh says as follows.
“The opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population.”
However, when contacted by JW Alumni, an organization of former Jehovah’s Witnesses, Professor Singh said that the quote was taken out of context, and gave an inaccurate appearance of his stance.
(Author’s note: It has been brought to my attention that the person initially responsible for contacting Professor Singh and receiving a response from him was Reddit user ImNoScientician.)
In a letter to the editor of the magazine, the biology professor said that, in the paper from which the quote was taken, he went on to explain the nonreligious reasons which lead people to doubt evolution. Professor Singh’s reasons can be summed up simply, though: people doubt evolution because they do not understand it. That’s a far cry from indicating that there are good, science-based reasons to doubt the current understanding of evolution of man. Condemning the magazine for the misuse of his words, Singh says that his quote was deliberately twisted to perpetuate lies, and he’s calling for an apology.
“I have received inquiries from many evolutionists, atheists and former members of your organization (ex-JW) who brought the above misquotation to my attention. I agree with them that your misquotation of my work is deliberate and meant to convince your followers in the truth of creationism by perpetuating false support from scientists.”
“So I am asking you first to remove the misquotation from your article immediately and second print an unconditional apology for what I consider is a deliberate damaging action on your part to my reputation.”
He goes on to say that religion and science should share the goal to seek truth, and calls on the organization to drop the crusade against evolution.
“If I may suggest, as an organization you should stop wasting your time in perpetuating lies against evolution.”
Professor Singh speaks respectfully of religion as a whole, pointing out that many branches of Christianity and other religions have accepted evolution, and that doing so is no bar to believing in God. He closes with a suggestion that one who would understand evolution must study and meditate on it, stopping short of suggesting that the editors of Awake! do so.
His full letter can be read here.
As of this publication, the quote the biology professor says was used to “perpetuate lies against evolution” remains in the article, and Awake! has made no public response.

All those saying he shouldn't DA but fade, are we assuming he has family in he?
Anyway Garrett, if you DA, just expect never to really be able to talk to those who are in again. If you don't have family in or anybody you care to keep in contact with, then by all means DA or just don't show up again.

The GB will release 'new light'. "Recently new light has revealed that the governing body alone are the faithful slave, and were we not appreciate for the governing body having shared this new light? The trumpets of truth have shone more new light! Evidently, since the faithful slave is entrusted with all his master belongings, the faithful slave is actually the representation of the master, and as such, the faithful slave is to be worshiped as the master would be, because in worshiping the faithful slave, one is in actuality worshiping the master. From here on, all talks will be televised from the GB directly worldwide. All chairs will be removed from the kingdomhalls and replaced with prayer rugs. Everyone will bow low in worship to the governing body as they take in the divine teachings from the master himself through the faithful slave, the governing body. -

How could it be hard for them to be accurate? WT keeps records just like the nazi's did. They probably know the name of each publisher who didn't get in their hours for each month during WW2 somewhere in their vaults. -

I agree w/ snare. Especially if most don't know about snippets and the adjustments that can be made.
If not then it should default to title only like the old format and default to 20 topics. (from my experience until I asked and simon told me that, it was too much information and work to screen topics for me).
I think too that the right bar is too big. It's 1/2 page and when in a topic or looking at topics, I for one never look at or use the right side. Unless somebody is told, most probably won't figure out 'snippets' either. But it makes the message board seem very crowded and squeezed into 1/2 page, and if scrolled to the top of the page, the threads and message board are almost squeezed into 1/4 of the whole page in the lower left corner.
I'm recently going back on more, but for awhile it just felt 'tiring', having to read a lot for each topic vs just titles until I figured out snippets, and all menu bars and ads with huge fonts and space and the message board feeling crammed into a tiny area, only way I could describe is tiring.
Last thing, this won't keep me from posting or coming back, but thread views was a 'fun' factor and at times I'm more likely to post if I notice it's a hot topic with onlookers. Since that was removed, now we have no idea if a topic is viewed by only those participating or thousands of lurkers too.
