Along w/ those who mentioned they may suggest which printer and ink to purchase will be a statement in the kingdom ministry like this......"The faithful and discreet slave have arranged for all to be able to purchase printers and ink at a special rate. Undoubtly all will cooperate and no longer purchase printers and inks even if cheaper elsewhere because if the companies knew jehovah's witnesses were purchasing elsewhere they will no longer provide such a good rate. Elders will also no doubt lovingly check in on the congregration members homes to make sure they are using the special ink and printers and provide warm loving counsel if any have not followed the directions of the faithful slave in this matter."

Is my mind still controlled???.....Is yours????
by KateWild inwe are all set for a lovely xmas week and nice holiday, but this image is indellably printed in my brain and i cannot erase it.. .
it's from the bible teach book, chapter 16 para 11. i did that many bible studies and trained them how we need to make a stand for true worship and not ever return to pagan practices.. so now over this season of good will, and fun i have a literal bitter taste.. are you having flash backs?
how can we remove these images from our brain?

crazy2try - I remember my parents telling me that when I was a kid. When I was a teen I went against the WT's rules on things like that. To me there is a big difference between 'fantasy' and real witchcraft. Real witches and witchcraft can't cast fire, ice, fly, there are no monsters, orcs, ogres, (only trolls are real), etc. So I never felt guilty doing anything involving 'fantasy' magic, which isn't real. But I would never touch the real stuff. And since I know the fantasy magic isn't real, it never gave me a desire to do the real stuff.

Governing Body rules on having parties and social gatherings......
by EndofMysteries ini decided to do a few threads the next few days on ridiculous sets of rules the gb makes about things which are none of their business and showing what rules they make, which are in no way scriptual.
they claim they are not inspired but everybody has to obey them.
these threads will also show how they strip and attack anything that can possibly be fun and joyful in one's life.

I decided to do a few threads the next few days on RIDICULOUS sets of rules the GB makes about things which are none of their business and showing what rules they make, which are in no way scriptual. They claim they are not inspired but everybody has to obey them. These threads will also show how they strip and attack anything that can possibly be fun and joyful in one's life.
This thread is about parties, social gatherings, etc. The GB and WT teach it's members to not associate with anybody else not of their religion. You'd think they would encourage and promote as many social activities as possible so it's members would not feel any urge to look elsewhere for having fun but they do the opposite.
The 3/1/2006 WT page 20/21 says " Having large social events is not advisable, since supervision at such is often difficult. At a time that does not interfere with spiritual activities, a few families may decide to enjoy a picnic together or play a game that is not overly competitive. When some of the elders, ministerial servants, or other mature ones are present at a social gathering, they provide an influence for good and the occasion can be even more refreshing.15 At social gatherings, those making the arrangements should not overlook the need for proper supervision. "
(Can they show me where in the bible does it say having large social events is wrong? So members who have large parties will be talked too or looked down upon. They should instead just have a picnic with a few people while watching little house on the praire? I'm also curious where in the bible does it say that everyone including adults are actually children and need to be supervised? Who supervises the governing body?)
Some gems from the 8/15/1992 WT page 19 about parties and forbiddening fun theme parties like masquerades and costume parties......"17 Fine oversight of a social gathering includes its planning and preparation. This does not require devising a catchy theme to make it unique or memorable but which would imitate worldly parties, such as costume balls or masquerade parties. Can you imagine faithful Israelites in the Promised Land planning a party where all were to dress like pagans in Egypt or another land? Would they plan sensuous dancing or wild music that might be the rage among pagans?"
(So it's wrong to have a "unique and memorable" party like a masquerade because the GB said so!)
"The Canada branch of the Watch Tower Society writes: “Counsel relative to limiting the size of social gatherings has been understood by a few elders to mean that large gatherings at wedding receptions are in violation of the counsel. They have concluded that if we are counseled to keep our social gatherings to a small, manageable size, it would be wrong to have 200 or 300 people at a wedding reception.”
(so not only are parties having 200 or more 'wrong', but even on a person's wedding day having 200 or more is wrong, BECAUSE..not the bible, but the canada branch of the WT claims that a few elders have decided that it's wrong and since the GB put their stamp on it, it's to be obeyed as bible doctrine!!)
Feel free to add more, I can add much more but dont' want to make the post too big lol.

The watchtower quoting itself as if it were scripture about weddings...
by EndofMysteries inthe 1997 wt, 4/15 page 26 is about weddings and more rules the wt tries to enforce to take the fun out of even weddings.
"while a disfellowshipped person could be allowed to attend the talk at the kingdom hall, the watchtower of april 15, 1984, said: it would be unfitting to have in the wedding party people who are disfellowshipped or whose scandalous life-style grossly conflicts with bible principles.
- isn't that funny?

apognophos - good ideas but they would take it even beyond the first night, they would probably say something along the lines of, "many have found it beneficial to refrain from sexual relations and instead use that valuable time for family study of the watchtower. Sexual relations should only take place when trying to conceive, but even that should be saved for until after armageddon since we are so close to the end. How happy we are to be able to refrain from such wordly desires and instead reherse service presentations with our spouse with that time as the end draws near!"

Christmas is WRONG!
by thesaint inyou all should be ashamed of your egotistical selves.
how can you leave god's organization to celebrate the work of satan the devil?
it just goes to show you how jehovah's christian witnesses are correct about how persons will leave the truth for their own selfish desires.. first off, christmas is a pagan holiday and it proves no spirit with the almighty jehovah and his son, the christ.

my choice wasn't available, which was a real study of the scriptures proved to me their interpretation is wrong on so many accounts, a real easy example is the book of revelation, how big prophecies such as the 7 trumpet blasts being fulfilled by 7 talks at district conventions by Rutherford which now would be known as old light/apostate/etc.

For athiests it won't matter but for those who still believe here is what cleared my mind about holidays......
1. First was noticing how many other christian faiths are far more christ like then JW's
2. Then I asked some of them if they knew about the origins and what allowed them to be able to celebrate it. On JW reasoning if anytime in the past thousands of years it had a bad origin, it must not be done, but their answer was, "I am NOT celebrating or worshipping pagan gods, it's about Christ and God sending him to us for our sins. When the entire world was pagan, changing those pagan practices to something christian wiped out paganism and took the bad out of them."
3. Along w/ the above, in the bible I read the scriptures about not judging the man who puts more importance on one day above another, but doing all things for God's glory. With that scripture, since the celebration is being done in appreciation for God sending his son, that goes with that.
4. Another scripture (I forgot offhand where both are and I gotta run or I'd look them up real quick)..the other is about not judging the one who chooses to observe a sabbath or moon or another day.
5. If doing a christmas tree, not using any angels or anything on it, for example ornaments of smores, pizza, places traveled, trains, snowmen, etc didn't even exist 2,000 years ago so can't even put a pagan origin on those. Can call it a memory tree, ornaments of every place traveled or vacation had, etc.
6. The tree originally was plain with just candles on it and gifts all over it. Electric lights on trees and on houses aren't pagan, they weren't done until the past 100 years. It's a modern winter decoration.
7. The bible says anything out of love has no law again, the law was summed up in love God with whole heart soul and mind and neighbor as yourself. So christmas is loving God for sending his son and loving family, getting together with them, and loving neighbor, taking extra effort to help others. JW's don't do any of that during this time, they don't do charity or help for poor, and find wrong in every tradition that brought family together so they grow cold and apart.
So for me personally, I see scriptually nothing wrong and to be on the safe side, I chose to keep angels, anything that could be thought of as idol out of it.

If they lack scripture to twist to their crap reasonings, they'll quote themself as if it were scripture.
Here are a few more gems from this article....
"But what about attending weddings of neighbors, worldly fellow workers, or distant relatives and acquaintances? It is good to bear in mind that our time is precious, since we need time for our ministry, personal study, and other family and congregational pursuits. (Ephesians 5:15, 16) On weekends, we have meetings and field service that we do not want to miss. " - lol, so getting invited to somebody's wedding, what may be the most important day in their life, and you say sorry I gotta study the watchtower, or gotta wake up early for service tomorrow.
"However, such a gathering for true Christians should be different from worldly receptions marked by extravagance, heavy drinking, overeating, wild music, suggestive dancing, and even fights. The Bible categorizes “revelries” with the works of the flesh. (Galatians 5:21) It is easier to have proper control when it is not a very large gathering."
"The wedding talk should be about half an hour in length and given in a dignified manner, emphasizing the spiritual aspect. The wedding talk is definitely more important than any reception that may follow." - really? A boring wedding talk is more important then celebrating one's marriage with friends and family?
"If a couple invite unbelieving relatives or acquaintances, these will no doubt be limited in number, giving more importance to those “related to us in the faith.” - but doesn't the WT say they don't break up families and those who join jw's aren't broken up from their families? But according to this they should not invite any non jw relatives, and if so, only a very few.
"Music can be happy without being tainted by questionable lyrics, excessive noise, or wild rhythm. Many have found it best to have an elder listen in advance to the music to be played."

Anybody have ideas about the double slit experiement with particles, how they react based on a human mind observing them?
by EndofMysteries inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfpeprq7ogc.
that's just crazy, that if the particles are being monitored and data recorded, they act exactly as we 'think' they should act.
however if they are not being monitored and no way to watch them, then they act completely different and more random.

Billy's question, " I was hoping to find an explanation for how they couldn't see the particles and what direction they went, yet they knew that there was a random chaotic pattern? How did they "know" without seeing? "
The easiest way to explain is the video animation, if it's observed then whatever object they are firing them at leaves a mark. I 'think' the observation recorded is the path itself, if it's fired straight and it's observed and recorded the whole path is in a straight line and the board or target shows where they struck. If the path is not being observed then the target board shows it's being stuck in many other areas like the wave pattern.
