In answer to NewYork44m's question on "how did they do it". I had spoken to 2 who consider themselves anointed. They said this, "We had been thinking that as anointed and members of the faithful slave, we were recently beginning to feel that we should be doing a lot more than just waiting around if we are part of the faithful slave, so when the GB revealed they they themselves are the faithful slave, it just made so much sense to us and we need not worry now.".

To me that sounds like in Revelation the kings who throw their crowns at the wild beast. Those who think they are anointed, if they actually read the bible, should understand the bible says they need no other humans to be teaching them, nor do they submit to rule of any other humans, for Jesus and the holy spirit tell them all they need to know. If they truly are, they are throwing their crowns to the GB, letting them do the ruling.

Why doesn't god do anything tangible now?

i was always told that god did loads of stuff that was evidence of his existance.

ususally very brutal things too (b#st@rd).. jesus walked on water and raised the dead we are told.. it seems to me also that the older the story, the more exaggerated it is...y'know...talking snake......global flood.. there are those that claim god speaks to them now and they alone 'know' it.

objectivetruth - I just saw your post about the tree of life and tree of knowledge of good and bad. I had thought one day as well if it was not literal but meant something else. Shortly after I read Ezekiel 31 entire chapter, but notice vs 9, and all the other trees of Eden that were in the garden of the God kept envying it. "

vs 18 brought down with the trees of Eden to the land down below".

The entire chapter is putting life and feeling into the trees. Perhaps they represent high ranking angels?

As for the tree of knowledge of good and bad, the scriptures have said that I forgot offhand which verse, but that sin is willfully and knowingly doing wrong and not knowing is not sin. Could the sayings of the law just expose all that is sin and being human it becomes sin for having known it and the words of Jesus are the tree of life?

Just speculations and thinking out loud. But Ezekiel 31 definitely seems to me to imply that the trees in Genesis either are not literal or also have a deeper meaning than literal fruit.

The only biblical reason I can see is "the time of the gentiles", a time without God doing major in your face stuff, as well as possibly a test of moral character. What will people do if they think there is no accountability for anything as long as they don't get caught, etc.

i do believe the authorities should step in to the wt's practices and possibly ban some things, and this would have absolutely nothing to do with freedom of religion.

1. Ban the lies - As seem on JW.org FAQ, they lie about not shunning family members, about not following and serving man, about not shunning those who leave the religion, etc. I see absolutely nothing wrong with forcing them to be honest and upfront with their own religious teachings.

2. Ban talk and print of shunning family members - people can make their own choices and sometimes non jw people end up severing ties with their family members. But the WT has no place to require and put in print to not even talk to them via email, etc. Also many who are raised never had a choice on joining. It has been said that emotional abuse is worse than physical abuse. If a religion in the USA taught to mob up and beat members who leave or want to leave, if that could not stand up as a freedom of religion, than neither should emotional abuse.

Why Do Some Ex-JWs Get Their Feelings Hurt So Badly By Shunning?

i ran in to a ex-jw and had a good laugh once he realized i was not going to shun him.

i am a different soul when we are dealing with watchtower demonology, everything about the organization is fan boy based.

watchtower creates the illusion of a community that never existed, we were too blind to realize most of the people we invested time with was nothing more than a farce, once you can't offer up more sacrfices on the watchtower's alter, your going to get less attention and eventually if your kingdom hall is big enough, they won't come looking for you.. .

You question on why are many upset, especially elders/ elders wives who were shunners themselves upset when it happens to them. I am answering in a broad sense which will mostly cover many here.

The WT teaches that apostes and those who leave the religion fully believe in God and they fully know that JW's are the true religion, but that they side with satan and want to tear down those inside and take them into destruction with them. Pretty much the same thing as they teach about satan and the demons. That a person who really wants to do the right thing and serve God would never leave them.

So when those people learn that the WT is teaching lies, they don't have special insight from GOd and all their teachings and policy's are from whoever happens to be on the GB and their personal viewpoints, they are trying to do the right thing, then when they get shunned and attacked for that, they find out that it was all lies about those who leave, that the GB are apostates.

the title of this thread was aimed at asking why the governing body is becoming so afraid and demanding the elders and rank and file to put their trust in the dukes of the kingdom hall.

The GB is becoming scared of an accelerating mass exodus from listening to their crap. That's why all the paranoid talk. They are trying to scare people into staying.
