If the Watchtower truly collapsed, how would you deal with your JW relatives?
by nicolaou inimagine the best case scenario.
the watchtower society implodes from within even making final printed admissions that it is voluntarily dismantling it's mission and legally dissolving the corporations.
oh happy day!

Wouldn't that be nice. Unfortunately look at what happend with the Church of God - Armstrong people.
They divided into smaller sects and now they're a rainbow of different flavors and beliefs. Similarly the
Bible Student movement has several small but separate churches who loosely associate and have
conferences, but some don't get along with others, and refuse to exchange elders for talks etc.
The situation in Romania is interesting since there are several groups claiming to be the one true
Jehovah's Witnesses. Very similarly, if the WT were to fall, I'd see some going the way of Trinitarian
churches, others sticking by current beliefs, others reforming their beliefs with many along this wide
range of religious belief options... breaking apart and reassembling, sort of replicator style.

Your choices have a lot to do with how you're treated.
If you come home late on purpose just to test the waters
to see if you may not like the reception at your new place
then you're putting your new hosts to the test, they may
not like that. Think about what you can do to improve your
lot in life, talk to these new host parents you have, be
helpful to them, talk with them about being afraid to make
mistakes, everyone makes mistakes, hang in there and
do seek professional counseling that may help you deal
with the PTSD. I don't think we have many professional
counselors on this board but some have a lot of experience
with handling abuse cases and giving support. I hope you
find peace and a happy situation in your life.

Bill Cetnar tells a lie ....
by Raphael innot the way to refute watchtower theology:.
bill and joan cetnar make a statement that russell said he spoke to angels , this is a blatant lie and we know what the bible says about liars .... he also says that russell claimed to be the fds and the laodicean messenger, both statements are misleading .
russell never claimed in any of his writings that he spoke to angels or was the aforementioned messenger or the fds , rather it was some of his associates that suggested he may be.. the cetnars also make a number of other poorly researched and misleading statements that sadly bring their own characters into disrepute .. .

I agree that there was a lot Bill Cetnar did to help others who wanted to escape the clutches of the WT Society.
Perhaps Bill was trying to bring out inflamatory facts against the WT not realizing that some of these were in error.
The problem is that if error is found then it calls into question other claims which although less inflamatory may be accurate.

Why Do Some Elders Go After "Faded Ones" While Others Leave Us Alone?
by minimus inso far, no one has really bothered me.
i always wonder why.
then i read of how some are always getting calls and visits.

Some elders are really convinced they have the Truth.
The Society encourages elders to revisit inactive ones
who are those called for the most part "faders" here.
The Society doesn't like having "faders" they need some
sort of closure. Either the person is reactivated or
deactivated. There's no other choice, if you are a
fader you are an almost forgotten landmine that
could go off... simply by sharing what you know
with other people. It is a danger the Society doesn't
want to allow. If a person is a fader and responds
negatively to the visit they could be considered to
be disassociated. That brings closure, anyone who
is still active will better not try and seek contact with
him or her.
It is all a matter of control. Some elders' lives are too
busy to bother and they can hardly control what they
have on their plate. If you happen to be in a congregation
where most elders are hardpressed for time and feel
exhausted they'll most likely leave you alone unless
there's some complaint.

I just feel like crying... I'm so fed up of the hypocrisy!
by cattails ini was very disgusted with the wt study for today.. towards the end of the article it refers to matthew 15 (see quoted scripture below).
this is a beautiful passage where jesus says his followers need to be hospitable, care for sick, hungry and imprisoned brothers.. they turn it around and say that for jw's this means they need to support the "faithful and discreet slave" by going in door-to-door witnessing, making monetary contributions to support the worldwide witnessing work, and following the directions and counsel of congregation elders.. and the worst part of it all is that there were several commenters giving almost word for word answers to that effect, they didn't even seem to listen to previous comments, they just repeated mindlessly what the paragraph said... i was ready to burst.
mom knew i was about to have a fit right there and then.

Hang in there Cat.
I hope things get better for ya soon.
Keep seeking those that care about you and want what's best for you.
It's not selfish, it's fleeing from the mental and emotional abuse that will help you.

The Day I had an Epiphany
by journey-on inmy eyes opened in more ways than one.
as i lay in bed that sunday morning, i knew i was never again going to rise hurriedly to get myself and the kids dressed and fed for field service.
i was actually feeling relieved and wanted to just turn over and go back to sleep, certain and content in my decision.. the day before, i had stood at the end of the block, after working a territory filled with barking dogs and people sleeping in after a hard days work week, and thinking, "never again".

I once dated an Epiphanie, she had a twin sister named Estephanie, I always got their names confused. It didn't work out.
My epiphany was during a CO and BOE/MSs meeting. Never again to get put down as not doing enough, I'd had it, no more BS for me, I stepped down that weekend. The CO was .... more than a bit upset. We had words.
