I think Moshe is right. It does make sense to try and forget the slight but really, personally, to me things like this are like a knife in one's gut.

I'm so sorry you and your family had to put up with this elder's b u ll s h it rules!

Really, they are the WTS rules and the only comfort I can offer is that you s h a r e this with anyone and everyone you have a chance to.

If you expose the insensitivity to others outside the cult you may save someone from falling prey to it.

I understand that to some, who can "rise above it," such slights may not be so important.

But I can empathize with the pain and anguish that the legalistic pharasaic petty rules of elders cause.

And it is so by design. It was designed by the petty and pharisaic minds of people like Fred Franz who didn't seem to give a rat's a s s about anyone else and their feelings.

This mentality is a disease that gets passed on by the studying Watchtower publications with mind controlled Watchtower believers.

today is my first anniversary as a jwn member.

it's hard to believe that only a year has passed since i joined, but i feel that's a testament to how much i have been welcomed and made to feel like part of the furniture.. i would very much like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on the forum for the immense help and assistance i have received, particularly in my first few weeks/months of posting.

it truly was a lifeline at a very distressing time for me.

As an elder and local incorporated JW Congregation "director" we received instructions on how to change the bylaws of our KH owning Congregation so that along with the RBC's remodeling loan the ownership of the KH would go to the WTS. No rebuilds get done without such a clause.

The CO as WT's representative informs the elders that they need to look at their Congregation incorporation papers and amend them so as to reflect the changes, if the Congregation elders do not do so, no money from the Kingdom Hall Building Fund is loaned to the Congregation so the RBC can make upgrades to the building. Whenever the RBC enters the picture it takes over the funds and disburses them, purchasing as many items as possible from the approved list, which the WTS has of items they either stock, or get a kick-back from.

The KH building and remodeling is definitely quite a lucrative venture for the WTS.

I've had too many backroom meetings and "home" elder visits to count since stepping down, began to partake, and started making trouble.

Two scenarios, at each extreme of what I'd hope for...

On the positive side (from my POV):

I would like to see a radical change like what took place with the Church

of God Armstrong becoming Grace Communion International.

Becoming more "Christian" and mainstream and leaving behind quirky

Rutherford & Freddy Franz theological gaffes would be nice.

On the other hand:

What I think we may see is a cracking down on expressing dissention, and too,

perhaps a confirmation of the often rumored changes with the way CO's and DO's operate.

The goal being to put more of the legal accountability on the local congregations

and BOE's while demanding more loyalty to their "Mother" Organization.

As always using obfuscation telling the R&F through elders that the changes

would be to simplify and better follow the scriptural pattern with the hope of

hiding the real trigger for the changes being the big hit of the abuser Kendrick trial.

(Like with the donation/contribution change brought on by the Swaggart case).

The WT older men minions who hound the R&F aren't supposed to scream, just calmly state "it will be announced that you are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses (oh and by that it's implied you're going to lose your family and friends you've grown up with) but there's no need to scream, no need to get all worked up in this Organization, just keep taking the mood enhancing drugs and be a good JDoobee"

YOU know what... I shall go on quietly and surreptitiously degrading this bOrganization, like a rust on steel, like a sticky gangrenous and festering wounding stench on the on the balls of the Watchtower, sapping away its spunk of mind controling power.

Would You Listen To A Prayer From A JW And Say Amen If They Said A Prayer In Your Presence?

my mom has had visits from various jws and they have asked her if they could say a prayer before they left.

i respectfully listened to the prayers while i was visiting and might silently say amen if i felt the prayer was appropriate for my mom.. i'm just curious, how would you handle this type of situation?.

If the brother mentions the "faithful and discrete slave", like the one who closed the meeting this evening, I don't say amen to his prayer.

As soon as I hear the "FDS" I make it a point to raise my head and not include myself in the prayer, instead asking God to forgive me and to please deliver me from this cult that has a grip on my family.

Introducing Mrs Cedars...

i just thought you should know that mrs cedars has finally taken the plunge and joined the forum.

she was able to log on for the first time yesterday.. though we both "awakened" at different stages, mrs cedars was very supportive and non-judgmental when i first began exploring my beliefs from a critical standpoint.

she is currently in the process of reading crisis of conscience and aquainting herself with some of the facts of witness history that were hitherto unknown.

i wanted to consolidate a lot of the information about the attack of anonymous against the watchtower society.

if you disagree with the tactics of anonymous, that's fine.

this information may still be useful as the public is made more aware of the the dangerous policies of the watchtower society.

Hmmm... to see a mail server address where there was no mail server before is somewhat alarming to say the least, maybe a tricky honey pot has been set up since the WTS has had plenty of warning about what would be coming.

But then again... Maybe Anonymous had already collected a lot of """Bonafide""" info before going public and He/IT/they are just making the IT dept. at the WT soil their panties for the fun of it.
