Considering your mention of ancient mythologies vs. the Bible is interesting yet not quite the same. Ancient Greeks saw nothing wrong in older men buggering boys, even Spartans seemed to have preferred manly loving men than females. I think given the actual "practices" and not myths of ancient times the Bible gives moral guidelines that prohibit certain behaviors for the people who were set apart as a beacon of righteousness to the nations. Much of goyim ethos was polluted in the view of rhe israelites.

It would appear that street work isn't effective as calling on people's homes so if they go to this direction they're in for an unfortunate surprise.

Uhuh, yup! Which as stated above by Crazyguy, has probably more to do with shielding themselves from lawsuits than the effectiveness of making disciples.

Thanks for your article on this, long but you eloquently, clearly put your views forward.

One point I'll make about your comment on John 8:3-11.

This is one of the most powerful moral lessons in the entire Bible.

I tend to agree, yet this has been cut off from the revised NWT.

It's interesting, isn't it? They are moving away from the house to house, not-at-home-to-not-at-home witnessing work. And the focus of the preaching work is moving towards using literature carts and phone calls.

This change would defintely be a big change in the way the WT operates.

How would you feel this change would affect the WT/JW organization?

Man! This trailer looks depressing as all get out! And what's with the fake magazines "Kingdom" and "Truth!" instead of Watchtower and Awake! ???

I'd like to watch the full documentary but the indie distribution channel doesn't make it easy. I'd rather it were available on Amazon.com even with a price attached not on Prime, or even Netflix.com streaming or DVD.

Anyway, the trailer sounds very depressing. Being out mentally is depressing enough.

It would be nice to have a trailer where folks who are out of the Org can vouch for a better life afterwards and an improvement in emotional and psychological well-being.

Did anyone here attend the event in March? And what was your reactions to the screening of the movie?

New David Splane Video: No 1900 Year Faithful Slave

governing body member david splane has a new video on tv.jw.org where he talks about all the horrible things committed by martin luther and the protestant reformers.. his conclusion is that there has been no faithful and discreet slave on the earth during the past 1900 years (before 1919 i guess.).

he also says that maybe there were a few anointed on earth, maybe not.. he did add an interesting statement that he doesn't condemn the other churches just for misunderstanding the bible because the society has done that.. another odd point, was that he actually mentioned catholic missionary work in a somewhat positive light, while totally condemning the reformation views on predestination..

Luther may have read too much into scriptures like:

Romans 8:29 For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Romans 11:2 God didn't reject his people, which he foreknew.
(WEB KJV ASV DBY WBS NAS RSV NIV)

But Luther had the cojones to expose the selling of papal indulgences, papers forgiving sins by paying the Catholic Church. And he publicly posted the list of 95 theses on unscriptural practices by the Papists and thus igniting the Protestant Reformation. And along comes this WT/JW Gobbering Body member talking $hit! Unbelievable, freaking unbelievable!
